"Best bottle for about 100 Euro" (Daniels Home): Colour: Dark but translucent. Nose: Lovely delicate coincident complex nose with a great mix of black & red fruit (black cherry & red berries), graphite, a bit of pepper & tar alongside a hint of asian spice. Palate: Super elegant wine, everything is on the right place. Tannins still left but beautiful intigrated. Enough power & tension without beeing to heavy. Balance is the key word.
Wonderful syrah although 1993 is not the best known vintage for N-Rhone. Best red-wine of the tasting for me. Still potential left.
The master has produced something great from an average year.. The wine needs decanting, like 45 minutes to develop and deliver. But once it does it is a formidable effort. Ok not the best the Guigal stable has produced but this wine has nothing to feel bad about. pure class ont he nose, good fruit, dark elements, light spicy feel. On the palate the tannins are round but vibrant and the wine feels like it has a lot of life in it still. Good midpalate weight too and pretty beutiful across. Great wine. 95
Sampled 5/11/12. This wine took over 90 minutes to fully open in a decanter. In the first 30 minutes its acidity dominated with sour red fruits. After 90 minutes, the wine really came alive, rounded out and softened. Red and black fruits nicely layered, still some underlying acidity, a very smooth wine, touches of Oak and spice. Wonderful for a difficult year and a high quality wine in any year.
