This has progressed since my last bottle review 3 1/2 years ago. Deep purple in glass, plum and dark berries on the palate. This paired well with Beef Wellington. Lingers at end. Thought before that this suffered from weak vintage; I now think this deserves its Insignia heritage. Beware of some sediment.

From a 375mL. If 2011 was a weak Napa vintage, it’s not apparent at this address. Full of blackberry and black cherry with sexy oak and chocolate this wine is Napa done right. Intense and easy flowing on the palate, there is structure but tannins are resolved. It disappeared quickly in people’s glasses. I haven’t had many 2011s but this was better than the Harlan I had a few years back for which the oak overpowered any other character. That wine was like licking a barrel.
