Coravin fun - Lafon Rochet (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Bramble, plums, cedar, a little polished oak proves caramel, sweet and an almost toffee note but is quite pretty and fruit forward, earthy, slightly rocky underpin as well, a little dried fruit note with time. Medium plus intensity acidity lends a little sourness to the black hued fruits and , like the 2010, the tannins are very much in support, all travel long, simple, nice.

Still has a deep ruby hue, like most ‘12s’ I have tried. Certainly on the savoury edge with a nose that has minerality, a touch of black currant and a definite pencil note, comes through after a few hours. Has more layers on day 2 and works very well with a chicken a roast vegetable dish (the caramelised greens working brilliantly in tandem with the Lafon) I really enjoyed this, and it was a wine that you felt that was in an good place. It’s not one to worry about if you are drinking too young. Plus pretty good value all said. Enjoy with food!

Decent bottle, drank over 2 days, definitely better 1st day. Light black currant, hint of cedar, tiny menthol, dry and well structured. Interesting history to this property with their early mistakes of Merlot planting still evident. Fun to try, drink now. Cheers.

Black currant, cedar, cigar box, baking spice. It’s austere and very dark but drinks well and still has a long potential.
