Opened and poured, bottle had been well stored and the good-quality, pristine cork was in immaculate condition. Dark colour, some bricking, notes of iron filings, black tea, decent enough grip and acidity is quite prominent. There's a real lack of fruit though - which renders the wine pretty boring - on the plus side no sign of the dreaded '04 green meanies. Bachelet is one of my favourite producers, but this bottle makes me question spending $AUS60-ish on Burgundies (yes, I know, '04 is a disaster of a vintage), there's plenty that provide far greater pleasure at far cheaper prices.... Though perhaps this feeling is amplified after a disappointing, oaky Mortet as well....

Open with a fresh and floral and blackberry finish. It's easy to drink now but could still be nice with another year or two of cellaring to give the floral taste off the palate a little more definition.

A bit of noticeable greenness, which I hadn't picked up in my previous bottles. If it weren't for that I would say there's no hurry to drink. High-toned but balanced and complete.

Dark color belies its age, green notes typical of the vintage are there but mildly and the fruit's big enough to carry it. I liked it quite a bit.

Mild sous bois, older raspberry; coherent, gradual, somewhat poised and put together, but a little tart
