An evening with George (Bistro Cocotte, Haberfield): "Closed initially. With agitation; red over black fruit, sweet spice, keeps changing with time. Juicy, savoury, dark hued fruits, needs time to open to reveal itself, a sense of concentration and power, fruit tea and black tea tannins. Woof.
With time (about two hours) some tertiary notes start to show - leather, earth, that fruit tea and slight sous bois on the nose...Palate doesn't really shift though. Crikey. "

Burgundy at least 20 years old: For me WOTN. Very elegant, dark and a touch of blue fruit, but only medium bodied and not too rich or flabby, tannins integrated, palate does not have the same density as the nose. Guessed 2002 and no idea from where. 93. Amazed this was a Pommard out of all.

Very good. Elegant, showing age but had a very pleasing mouthfeel and finesse to it.

@ Chambers, Tribeca, NYC
Great developed Pommard profile with still very present structure and balance. Still can hold for a while. Courcel is great across the board in 1999

A very good Pommard Rugiens, very elegant interpretation of a Pommard, couldn’t have guessed as Rugiens. Drinking well with years to go.
