I found this when rearranging my cellar. Color was a pale gold-correct for the age. But the nose was nothing but a glob of warm road tar. Never dissipated. Taste was tarry also. No fruit to speak of. Can't name the flaw as reduction usually blows off with airing, no go here.

Taste at Elysian. Cloudy yellow color. Medium dark roast nuts. Vivid yellow fruit. A touch of minerality. Beautiful definition. Some nice oak involved - definitely new and of high quality. Creamy mouth feel with nice acidity.

Despite a bias against California wines, I was extremely impressed by this bottle. Not a trace of alcohol on the nose, in spite of its 14.5%abv. Beautiful nose, primarily sweet tropical fruits but also savory hammy notes I attributed to its age. Surprisingly high acidity created a long long finish and helped the wine pair well with the scallops we ate with it. Purchased on auction, and will be looking for more.

Undrinkable spritz on the palate. Sad.

Sadly my last bottle of Aubert. At age 9 still going strong. Consistent wiith my prior experience. One of the best Chardonnay's produced.
