Burgundy Wine Club Dinner 2013 (The Breslin, NYC): After drinking 94 Les Saint Georges and Vaucrains, this wine showed its individuality quite clearly. A pretty wine, red fruits and a jewel-like clarity. More feminine, showcasing finesse and delicacy in aromatics and texture. Lovely wine. Seems to be at the apex, was the consensus, perhaps not a lot of point in waiting too long on this wine.

Two of the previous bottles from this lot were undrinkable at best, so I had little hope for this bottle. Sometimes you win the lottery. Consistent colour with no sign of bricking. Lovely nose of strawberry, hay and Brie. Good acids, firm finish and good balance. Uncoiled a bit with some flesh and persistence. Delicious stuff. Held for a good 45 minutes or so and we finished it.

Some pretty strawberry jam and mushroom notes under a layer of over-the-hill lemon pledge. Flabby and old on the palate followed by coarse, drying tannins. Was probably not bad at some point, but not enjoyable now.

Dead thing nose. Coarse and baked on the palate. Undrinkable - more than just old, it was ruined.
