Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 93.9 points

  • This bottle seems to be pretty shut down at the moment. I see the elegant structure and the cocoa notes but it's not giving much on the nose or even on the palate.

  • Dark berry and stone fruits, balancing acid and tannic grip. Remarkably approachable right now but has the stuffing to age well.

  • Ripe, on balance darker cherry fruit, but also strawberry, rhubarb, a bit of earth, fine spicy seasoning and mineral notes of iron oxide. This is supple, no edges what so ever. Fresh and light, opening up beautifully adding brighter red fruit and sweet spices and a nice earthy complexity. Such elegance and refinement. Started off with around 93 and had brief peak moments of 96. Technically this would be a 94, but I‘m generously scoring 95 because this was so much pleasure to drink. Decanted for ~1.5h but at this stage 2h+ probably better.

  • PnP'ed during a dinner. Perhaps a mistake not having decanted it much earlier. Compared to a previous bottle (which had been decanted) I brought, this was much more primary, somewhat closed/clamped up. There was still some florals on the nose, but one had to really encourage its showing by repetitive swirling of our glasses. Dark-fruited on the palate, this also showed some "wood" spice, a sign that it required more ageing & integration. A colleague who had the Comando-G the evening before also commented that it was the more preferred wine compared to the Cailles...

  • Medium body. Dark fruits with some spice. A touch of wood into the finish. Nice complexity and balance.
