This is definitely showing its age, but still quite drinkable. Leather, earth, mushrooms, dried fruit and herbs. Still holding a bit of acidity. A survivor and an interesting drinking experience.

Perfect, tight cork that did not need Durand. Low neck fill. Decanted only briefly, grew younger and fresher in the glass. Not even the gold label, yet still very drinkable alone and ravishingly good with food. A testament to the incredible 1961 vintage (especially since no Oro was made, sending all the best grapes into the regular beige label bottling). Also a testament to the traditional style of winemaking. So complex, so many tertiary notes that come only with great age and proper cellaring. Also, at $50, an all-time bargain never to be seen again.
