Much more accessible and giving than the V.V. Great nose of violets and cherry. A sweet core of fruit and all sorts of flora and earthy nuance. Creamy through the mid-palate, expansive through the tail. Quite delicious.

During the La Paulée in Zurich, so no detailed tasting notes. Young still but with lots of potential. Good structure, ripe fruit, earthy elements. Will be best after 2028. 94-95

(from memory) Medium ruby, inviting nose of black cherry, licorice, menthol, and damp earth, round and balanced on the palate with strong bing cherry, earth and spice notes, medium plus acidity and teeth coating dusty tannins, finishes with spice, berry fruits, strong minerality, and on and on

Château de la Tour Cellar Visit and Tasting (Day 9, Visit 1) (Clos Vougeot): Tasting at the domaine, in vertical of sorts, sitting on the deck overlooking the Clos. Red and black cherry immediately comes across as incredibly dense and powerful at first sniff. This continues through final sip. Even with its massive size and structure, this is so well balanced and approachable, even if just hinting at its potential.

hard to rate so NR, this wine had a very nice structure with solid acidity and substantial, hearty tannin, it also had plenty of earthiness, rustic and fruit... tho the fruit seemed - again - rustic, dark and brooding... the last glass on night two was the best, which portends well for the wine, but I'm not very good at assessing new wines and being able to predict whether they will be gems or duds in 20-30 years... frankly not sure anyone is, but this is worth a re-buy if you like them darkish, I like my fruit red but will nonetheless buy two or three more to try in 20 years, I own 17 of the '08 of this wine
