Some nice Burgundies (Chicago, IL): Very pleasant red fruit here. It's much more elegant than the somewhat burly and stewy 2009, but on the whole, this feels a lot lighter than a grand cru ought to be. It's pleasant and approachable, and while very much enjoyable, I admit I expected a fair bit more from this bottle.

1st of 12. 2.5 hours in a large Riedel glass. Brooding with dark fruit. Moderately closed on the finish but improved throughout the evening which brought some brighter fruits. Balance is outstanding. The finish is still somewhat closed. The balance and stuffing should allow this to drink well for 3 decades. This is probably 3-5 years from its prime. I would suggest a 3 hour plus decant at this point.

Clos Vougeot (The Center) Tasting (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Single blind in 09/10 flight. Red and black cherry with faint woodsy, savory spice. Very balanced with sneaky length. Very similar to the 2010 Vieilles Vignes, just dialed down. Clearly identifiable as both 10 and the younger vine cuvee.

Clos Vougeot - Clos Center Tasting (Chicago, IL): 10VV/10/09VV single blind. Delicious and drinking with a lot of youthful pleasure if somewhat primary and waiting for that nuance to emerge. Just a touch less depth than the other two wines and therefore deduced as the classique in the line up.

Fairly deep, quite sensual, still some tension with a reasonably tight core that will unwind nicely over time. enjoyable drinking now from first pour, but no fireworks.
