Aged Drouhin wine dinner at Hua Ting. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru and Rona. Appearance slight cloudy, pale intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of mintiness, feminine sous bois, sexy red cherries, iron meat with more air. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), initially silky medium tannins gaining more structure with more air, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark mint, sexy ripe red cherries, elegant sleek sous bois earth, hint of meatiness. Long finish. Very very good quality. Wow never would have guessed this vintage. Still drinking so well prime time. Perfectly matured with no signs of going downhill yet.

Red fruit, fennel seed, some remaining tannin, acids a bit spiky. Seems to calm a bit, rounding out and putting on weight, but this isn’t a fave vintage of Mouches. B

Second Sunday Group: 1995 Beaune (Eagle Brook CC): Double blind. Dominant aroma of a beef bouillon cube. Better on the palate- soft and balanced, with cherry and strawberry flavors. The fruit turns a bit riper as it breathes. Finishes a little short.

Lovely bricking pale ruby color. The nose is complex and beguiling: mature cherry fruit, warm earth, anise, stone. The palate also shows mature fruit notes. Very savory and holding onto a zippy finish. Maybe missing a touch in the middle. Very good but drink up. (91)

I was a bit nervous, but the wine showed off great! Clos des Mouches is great
