  • From a 375ml. At this young age this is pretty straightforward, but rather nice: the nose has glycerin and tropical fruits; the palate has notes of seville orange marmalade, but also a tropical fruit perhaps papaya; the finish is clean and just a little sticky.

The balance of sweetness and acidity on the palate is good - this is a very easy-drinking wine that would pair well with many desserts. I'm also drinking it with some strong soft cheese, and that's working too.

Decent QPR for the ~US$24 that I paid for this half-bottle.

  • Golden yellow color.

Outstanding, enticing aromas of pineapples, canned peaches, passion fruit, and other tropical notes.

The light-medium-bodied palate is fun on the palate. It immediately sings with pineapples, candied orange rind, clover honey, and passion fruit. A hazelnut undertone carries through, accompanied by an earthy funk (the botrytis).

Long finish, still with the hazelnut, with a racy, refreshing acidity.

In a word, delectable. The structure is well-established with the acidity balancing the long list of aromas and flavors. The botrytis comes through.

I paired it with mini-toast crisps and a hunk of stilton cheese with apricot jam. This was a 375mL bottle.

  • Just a really nice sweet wine. Perfect chilled for dessert.

  • I‘m not a sweet tooth and hence prefer sweet wine to be on the fresher and leaner side of things and this Doisy Vedrines was right. Superbly fresh, pure and non-tropical fruits, clean and not too sweet. This is only the second 2017 Sauternes crossing my paths but the second one I really liked. The De Fargues (rated 97 points) had much more depth but the same freshness and purity.

TN: Expressive nose with fine boytritis, freshc tirus and apple fruit. Pure, fresh, citrus, apple fruit on the palate with lots of saffron notes. Fresh, not too sweet, round, light and with a touch of creaminess. Not overly deep but superbly precise aromas and with a medium+ length.

Decanting: Not decanted, no decanting necessary.

  • Orange, apricot, butterscotch, herbal, and vanilla aromas. Sticky sweet flavor but balanced by excellent acidity. Slightly bitter. Yummy, but not very complex.
