  • First PnP'd a half glass as part of a tasting, using Coravin Pivot. Don't remember nose being very expressive, and alcohol stuck out a bit.

Two weeks later try some more, and this has opened up quite a bit. Fruity nose of black and red cherries and a little pomegranate. Some cloves, eucalyptus, blood orange peel too. Surprisingly little savoury notes, although my wife got some mushroom.

Palate is a bit juicy, with very fine tannins and gentle acidity. Alcohol seems to have integrated better. Finish is reasonably long and may be the wine's best attribute.

Overall not bad, pretty standard Pinot. Not worth the regular price, maybe worth the sale price I paid for it. We'll see if there's anymore development!

  • Truth is, this needs a decent decant (surprisingly). With that it sings.... Good, quality, Martinborough pinot. Long, too.

  • Medium ruby in color. Nose pretty flat. There’s cherry, sour cherry, plum, rhubarb… overall less pretty and fragrant than I have experienced wirh orher Escarpment wines. Should probably drink the last bottle I have soon because I think there’s nothing more developing here.

  • Deep coloured alcohol coming through. Too warm at first and when cooled fresher but black fruits still dominated. Improved with time but not my style.

  • Appearance: med ruby
Nose: med+ intensity, rhubarb, sour cherry, black pepper, toast, red roses, pomegranate, ginger, grapefruits, developing.
Palate: dry, high acidity, med tannins, high alcohol, med body, med+ intensity, med+ finish. Overall, very good wine. Can drink now, has potential for short term ageing.
This bottle is better than the last one. Some nice red fruits and spices on the nose. The palate and the length is good but not as impressive as the nose. Maybe it is the alcohol that puts me off a little bit. I would like my Pinot a bit fresher.
