Paired with Moose osso buco (second bottle after the Rostaing)
Dark red color. Raspberries and blackberries on the nose with pepper and vanilla. Palate has pepper, black fruits, herbs. I couldn't get many more notes after all the other wines. Ive loved this Hermitage but it does need a lot of air and after the flavor bomb that the Rostaing was this fell flat.

The 4 wines were served blind. 1st was Guigals Hermitage 2017 from France, 2nd was K Vintner, Cattle King 2015 from the US, 3rd was Porselenberg 2020 from South Africa and 4th was Penfolds St Henri 2018 from Australia.
So for this wine, i normally drink mostly french Syrah and the first smell felt like classic Syrah from france, nothing odd, red fruits, spicy, a tad herbal. Enjoyable but not particularly impressed. Then with about 30min in glass (the bottles were open a while in advance) it evolved into something much better! It tasted young and energetic! And every sip after just got better. I started at something like a 92 and ended with a 95pts score on this wine. Very impressed by this as it was the least expensive of the bunch.

2021 Guigal single vineyard cote rotie release dinner (Bel & Brio, Barangaroo): A little closed initially, blackberry, a little plum, sweet spice, polished oak, a little plum, chocolate. A tiny sour note here, tannins are drying, chalky, and it seems, after the Ampuis, to finish quite short (it isn't short). Hmm.

Senteur de cerise intense et violette . Puissant avec cuire et poivron. Devrais vraiment être fou dans plusieurs années

Bra men alldeles för ung. Behöver många timmars luft, eller, ännu hellre, några år till i källaren.
