  • This is a great cuvée year after year. Nicely balanced and drinking well now. Needs to breathe a bit. It was better on days two and three. This wine has a touch of new oak, which I generally don’t like, but in this case it was fine.

  • Deep, dark reddish-purple in color; essentially opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of floral notes of violets & earthy/dusty notes, spices, pepper, minerals, a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals & a touch of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks well with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging.

  • 2020 Rhone's (Bottega Coco): Slight volatility, bacon fat, touch of sulphur prickle. Juicy carbonic maceration, wild blackberry a little peppery spice from the alcohol, Medium pulls intensity acidity, tightly textured chewy tannins are drying, wild blackberry fruit, slightly blocky almost. Hmm

  • Initially unyielding, starts to pull back the curtain after a few hours. Notes of tart blackberry, black pepper, iron, and olive coalesce, with a tar note weaving in late and lingering on the finish. Needs time, but it's easy to tell it will punch above its weight when ready.
