  • Fascinating bottle - there was essentially no fruit left here, but balance remained. Showed no muddiness or oxidative tones of any kind. Hard to explain.. but this is well past full maturity by at least a decade.. and yet still enjoyable.

  • Drinking very well.

  • Deep ruby just beginning to show a touch of brown at rim's edge. Prominent nose of cocoa, black cherry, thyme and other herbs. Medium bodied with fully integrated tannin, flavors offer less intensity than the aromas would suggest. Fully mature but hanging on comfortably.

  • Korken i bara fyra delar.
Mörkt röd med viss tegling. Ser ut som Bdx 2001.
Magisk nos! Läder, mörka moreller, sumi ink, och Bdx-jord i vackra lass
Exceptionellt välkomponerad upplevelse i munnen. Samma aromer som i nosen, bra syror, fortfarande ett gott tanninbett (får en att undra över hur det här kan ha smakat 1980 - taggtråd?) och en hel orkester med tertiära aromer.
Inte en minsta tillstymmelse till oxidation.
    Hustrun drack i djupa drag.
    Vilken njutning!

  • The filling-level was upper shoulder. There was some mouldy seepage under the capsule and the cork slid into the bottle as soon as I tried to extract it, but overall the bottle was in good condition. The wine was medium to dark garnet in colour and offered prune, leather, tobacco, grilled whole fish and Asian spices on the nose. On the palate, the wine showed dried dark fruit, prune, dried cranberry, dried cherry, tobacco and Asian spices, with lively acidity, fully resolved tannin and good to very good length. The wine was a little sandpapery and slightly drying on the finish, but overall a very good 1975. Maybe a little rustic, and it is slowly going downhill, but I give it extra credit for standing up to Nachos. Drink up.

I really enjoy opening a bottle of 1975 once a year and picturing that wine as a person, comparing it with myself. As a person, this good old boy certainly seemed older than I feel, more between my father and my grandfather in years, entering into the last stage of his life. At times, this good old guy seemed energetic, but he is fading. He has stories to tell and occasionally he is fun, and he is strong and has character, but we both know that he has seen better days and that there is not enough of that precious time left to share...
