  • Came across this browsing the list at the Taillevent. Love old Pomerol and, though not the loftiest bottle on the list, how often do you get to pay a relative pittance for 1971 Pomerol that has been kept perfectly since release? So, 71 Nenin it was - and quite a nice surprise at that. Fully resolved and likely on its slow downhill slide, this still surprises with a reasonably weighty, plum-centered fruit profile with ganache and oak accents mingling with tertiary wood polish, sous-bois notes. A hair volatile on the palate, which is relatively thin compared to the moderately plump nose. Ultimately, a nice surprise from terroir that can be difficult and always a treat to see 71 Pomerol.

  • Now I know why I collect wine. 40 yeras in the bottle and still drinking well!! Pleasent perfume nose coupled with dusty cigar box. Still string a dare I say maybe a couple more years in it.
