  Monthly Tuesday group #005: Barolo at least 5 years old (By JdB): In the bouquet dark berries, herbs and spices, licorice and cigar. On the palate dark forest fruits like blackberries and blueberries, green herbs and sweet spices, some cherries, sweet licorice, mint, earth, good acidity and tannin with still some bite. Overall a mature and quite complex wine and no real hurry.

  aeration for 7 hrs with decant of 3, this was not enough. Took all this time for the wine to show much in the way of describable fruit, til then somewhat monolithic, fairly resolved in tannin and nice overall balance, but only at the end of the bottle did the cherry notes emerge. Will decant longer on my last bottle.
