Probably heading towards the end of its life, it is still highly enjoyable. However, the fruit is rapidly fading and the tannin is now dominating. It is probably time to start drinking up.

I love drinking old Bordeaux, and I loved this one, though there's not as much stuffing as the last time I drank this, which was 5 years ago. The fruit is, not surprisingly, almost entirely (or entirely) gone leaving leather, earth, tobacco and black tea. The nose is lovely - really old rubbed saddle leather and earth. The only somewhat odd thing was a surprising tartness that I can't explain. The residual fruit? Anyway - a fun experience and quite delightful with Sunday dinner of roast beef and gravy.

Nose - 92. Palette - 93 or maybe 94. a bit of complexity. Reasonably delicate. Nice fruit. Good balance. I tasted the 1995 as well, side by side. I preferred the palette in 1994 and the nose in the 1995. Overall, both were very nice wines.

Popped and poured. Opened up after about an hour to reveal enticing nose of dark cherries and tobacco. Light to medium-bodied, a reasonable replica of its big brother with lovely notes of tobacco and sweet fruits coming through on the palate and a moderate finish. Just the thing to tempt you to open a bottle of the real stuff...

Gorgeous HB nose bumps the score up a point or two. Surprisingly satisfying. Medium bodied, sweet fruit. Drinking nicely.
