Nice red fruit (cherry), slight leather, slight spice, slight herbal/ tobacco. Like an old drawing room. Nice acidity. Pretty open. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable. Cork was slightly depressed. Removed with ah-so.

The best word to describe this wine is "elegance". It was balanced, had a complex Bordeaux nose, very refined, and was astonishingly light like a Pinot Noir. Yet, it displayed such robust flavours that made me ponder about how powerful it must have been when it was first released. Now, it is drinking perfectly! Lots of cherries, grapes, some dried fruit on the palate, earthy, some herbaceous notes, and there was a beautiful sweetness to it that was very attractive. Enjoyable.

Tasted blind. Classic Bordeaux nose. With more air, it opened up to reveal a slightly sweet earthy aroma. Tannins apparent but smooth. Lots of grapey flavours. Long finish. I guessed 7-10 year old Left Bank Bordeaux. Was surprised to find out it was 1981.

A vertical tasting of Château Duhart-Milon 1975-2012 (Restaurant Vineum, Rotterdam, NL): A lighter and fresher style consistent with the vintage, little nose, lacks depth, but with more body and fruit than any of the wines from the 1970’s. Clean and pure expression, slightly tart acidity, piquant finish, short finish.

Zachys Fine & Rare Wines - Apr 2016 & an evening w/friends (Smith & Wollensky (48th & 3rd Ave)): Birth year wine! It's an old Bordeaux and tastes like what an old Bordeaux does. Really prob at the end of the window, but fun to try.
