1/2/24, 2:53 PM - No, just 750 ml.
11/10/23, 2:11 PM - No, this was my first experience with this producer. Thank you for your input.
3/18/23, 11:32 AM - I have one bottle of this wine and your comment about wheelbarrows full of barnyard has me worried. I don't like more than a suggestion of funk in my wines. Previous Leoville Poyferre that I have tasted (not very many) were not showing Brett or barnyard aroma. Any reassurance you can give me?
3/20/23, 12:38 PM - Thanks, Mark and SFWinelover. I will be sure to open the bottle well in advance when I want to consume it.
3/18/23, 9:09 AM - Shafer produces my favorite California Merlot. I am moving out-of-state soon but once settled I may try to buy a couple bottles of this vintage. Thanks for the note.
3/17/23, 1:18 PM - Thanks for the review. This is one of the wines that will accompany me to Iowa as I move to a retirement community there.
4/29/21, 9:03 AM - The Pivot Vineyard Pinot Noir is my favorite wine from Littorai. The 2012 vintage was fabulous.
12/29/20, 4:29 PM - My favorite vintage too.
12/20/20, 2:50 PM - Did you mean to say you don't like the wine after awarding it 93 points and calling it a classic Brunello from a great year?
10/29/20, 10:11 PM - This is one of my favorite Chablis. I have one left to share at an offline.
9/28/20, 12:42 PM - i love this wine. I gave it 94 points.
9/28/20, 12:31 PM - Sounds like a lovely food pairing too.
9/5/20, 9:31 PM - It will probably still be good five years from now but I see no harm in opening it now or in the next two years.
8/22/20, 5:38 PM - Like your food pairing for this. I had a 2012 Tig in a restaurant with wild boar ragout and the pairing really enhanced both the dish and the wine.
7/2/20, 5:10 PM - I love this vintage of Tignanello but I found it more cherry-like than you did.
6/25/20, 11:24 AM - Hi, Jeniece. I have one bottle of this I purchased after a tasting with one of the Drouhin family in Charlotte. May have to open it soon. (JC/NC)
6/25/20, 6:28 PM - Sorry I misspelled your name--I had a mental block, Jenise. I paid $24 each for two bottles. One was part of a church fundraiser with dinner, wine and a movie.
5/18/20, 9:40 AM - This is my favorite vintage of Tignanello to date. I have had it on two or three occasions and always greatly enjoyed and still have a couple bottles on hand.
2/9/20, 3:35 PM - Their Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a good value also (JC/NC).
1/2/20, 9:47 AM - You must rate harshly if you give only 75 points to a "good" Pinot. What is your rating for a wine you really like?
12/1/19, 4:38 PM - Do you know if you have had the 2010 vintage of this wine? I have a couple bottles of both 2009 and 2010 on hand and wondered how they compare.
11/5/19, 11:13 AM - This is a vintage of Larkmead that I have enjoyed over the years. I have one bottle left having consumed three bottles so far.
4/5/19, 3:54 PM - 81 seems a low rating for a wine that you define as super.
3/19/19, 3:36 PM - I have three of six bottles remaining (purchased in a charity auction in Charlotte in 2010.) I have been giving it 92 and 93 points with the three bottles I've opened. This, and a CdP from Roger Sabon were my favorites of a horizontal tasting of 10 bottles from the 2007 vintage. Beaucastel was my third choice. AKA JC/NC
12/12/18, 1:44 PM - I own a couple bottles of this. May open one soon so thanks for the note.
6/15/18, 10:08 AM - Oops--not good news, I have a bottle of this.
4/10/18, 8:44 PM - I opened my only bottle of this on the same day at an offline event and found it very nice. I wish I had ordered more than the one bottle.
3/22/18, 10:33 AM - Are you reviewing a Cab Franc of the Cabernet Sauvignon?
3/22/18, 11:03 AM - Thanks for clarifying. I don't think I was aware of the Cab Franc as part of the blend.
11/26/17, 5:33 PM - One of my Thanksgiving wines too. I thought it had a little spice which was appropriate with the Thanksgiving foods.
11/16/17, 2:08 PM - I initially bought three of these. Liked it so well that I purchased one more that I still have. It is a good vintage of Larkmead.
10/19/17, 5:36 PM - I can't say for sure in regard to this vintage but normally the grapes for the Estero are fermented in neutral oak casks and then the juice goes into stainless steel. The lack of oakiness is one of the things I also like about Lioco Chardonnays.
9/29/17, 8:05 AM - What was the flaw?
9/9/17, 8:17 PM - I find the review of the wine useful and the comments about the garbage hilarious.
7/30/17, 9:56 AM - On the nose I think you meant "black" raspberry, not "lacking" raspberry, plums, etc. Nice note otherwise.
7/7/17, 3:01 PM - You might want to change that "crap cakes" to "crab cakes" unless it's like the infamous pie in "The Help."
7/3/17, 3:10 PM - What does "wip" mean?
5/14/17, 10:31 AM - Timely note as I have a bottle of this in the lineup and will probably open in June.
4/26/17, 4:35 PM - I'm astounded that it is that expensive in Canada--almost twice what it costs on the East Coast of USA.
4/26/17, 4:36 PM - I'm astounded that it is that expensive in Canada--almost twice what it costs on the East Coast of USA.
3/24/17, 10:34 AM - I like the Ridge Geyserville and Lytton Springs wines with about six or more years on them. I haven't tried the 2014 Lytton Springs yet but one of the reasons I buy these two Zinfandel blends is because the price hasn't increased much in a couple decades. I find them very reasonably priced for their quality.
1/14/17, 9:15 AM - I didn't decant it but drank it over three days, recorking and refrigerating it between times.
11/16/16, 9:30 AM - I recently received the shipment of this wine and will probably open one by the end of the month or in early December. Your note is helpful.
11/8/16, 3:35 PM - I opened one 375 ml. bottle of this at an offline in San Francisco some years ago but have two more to enjoy. It was rated one of the better Sauternes of the vintage.
10/6/16, 12:06 PM - What does "definitely hound" mean or is that a typo?
9/29/16, 3:01 PM - Wish I had started out with your six bottles instead of my one. I will hold off for a couple years but doubt that I will hold out until 2023 or later.
9/8/16, 1:02 PM - I still have one bottle of the 2006 from Shea Vineyard and one from Garys' Vineyard as well as some of the 2007 vintage from Loring Wine Company. I will probably open the Shea wine this fall--possibly at Thanksgiving. Thanks for your comment.
9/4/16, 7:22 PM - I appreciate your note. I have several of these and based on your note, I will cellar them for a few more years.
6/30/16, 9:25 PM - I own this wine too, J. I can only hope that my bottle is not flawed. Was it TCA or premox?
7/1/16, 10:22 AM - I'm not very hopeful. Another post said their same wine was also flawed.
6/2/16, 11:49 AM - Did you mean to say check in again in 2016 or did you intend to put some other year down?
4/26/16, 8:41 AM - Why give it 93 points if you didn't like the wine? Are you grading it on its appeal in general to other consumers or did you like the wine and hit "does not like this wine" by mistake? I put "does not like this wine" if I give it a grade below 85.
4/6/16, 3:36 PM - I used to be able to get Wynns from a wine store in Raleigh, NC but as I understand, they haven't had an importer in the USA in recent years. The Black Label was a great bargain and the John Riddoch was a special wine in special vintages.
4/6/16, 3:56 PM - Is it being imported currently? If so, do you know the name of the importer or distributor?
4/6/16, 2:01 PM - So why listed as flawed?
4/5/16, 8:16 AM - Just received one bottle of this with a shipment of rose' wines from Woodland Hills Wine Company. Glad to see your second note from last summer and I hope it held up for another season. I may open it soon.JC
