Classic style Champagne. Nothing that really makes it stand out against other Champagne but it is still a high quality sparkling wine. Delicate mousse. Nose of brioche and lemon zest. Granny Smith apples and citrus on the palate.

Not much choice in airport while waiting to board, but Champagne always works. Classic blend with roughly 50% Chardonnay, 30% PN and 20% PM. Pale lemon colour. Medium intensity aroma of lemons, apples, apricots, peaches. Medium body, fine mousse, flavours of apple, lemons, would prefer lower dosage, medium+ acidity, hint of bitterness.

Wines at Paul's Xmas lunch: My contribution. Possibly '90s label? These old NVs can be a roulette but if the cork doesn't fail, they are pretty indestructible, Rich, toasty but the sweetness and opulence in its youth had mellowed to give a pretty linear wine. Not the most complex but so fresh and pleasurable.

Pale straw yellow, lighter than many champagne cuvées, sets this one up as potentially a fresher style. Lovely mousse which lingers a bit before subsiding yet still providing ample texture on the palate.
The nose is classic champagne, with yeasty brioche, lemon, and green apple aromas playing more of a supporting role to roast hazelnuts and toast, and something gingery like fresh ground coriander.
The palate is fresh, juicy, and lively, with tangy lemon and crabapple flavors and racy acidity on the front end and a long, gratifying finish with echoes of toasted nuts and caramel.
A good value and worth reaching for on any occasion, the only real criticism I have of this wine is that more tension would make it an exceptional champagne. The freshness of the style is lovely, there’s plenty of aroma and flavor to go around, but just a tiny bit more malic would put it over the top. Good stuff nevertheless, and if a softer, more approachable champagne is to your taste, this is a great recommendation.

Dug out an aged version of this, I don’t know what year this is made in but I absolutely adored this. So gourmand and crushable. Honey, caramel, lemon tart, apple candy and the acid very much alive and vibrant. Never mind that the finish is tad short as it should be. Before I knew it I’d already finished half the bottle by myself. These house NV cuvées can be so golden when given appropriate age.

Looked for date disgorged, nada. For me this is less good than previous years. It lacks yeasty flavors and creaminess, richness, without interesting new ones ... citrus present. It also seemed a bit sweet with modestly almost short finish, PN %?. Maybe time will help but I only can store 100 bottles. Enjoyable on Halloween, just not what I expected from past.

Aromas of toast, baked bread, shortbread and mineral. Flavors of mineral, toast, cracker and yeast. Ends with a big mineral driven finish of 15-20 seconds. A rock solid Champagne.

An older NV bottle from the early 1970's. 12% alcohol. Bottled in a 0,77-liter bottle.
Medium-deep golden yellow or pale bronze color. The nose feels old and oxidative yet quite attractive with complex aromas of bruised apples, some orange marmalade, light syrupy tones, a little bit of dried stone fruits, a hint of pineapple and a touch of browned butter. The wine feels rich, balanced and slightly off-dry on the palate with a medium body and complex flavors of apple jam and lemon marmalade, some zesty notes of ripe orange, light dried pineapple tones, a little bit of toffee or butterscotch, a hint of saline minerality and a touch of caramel. The wine is moderately high in acidity and there's a tiniest suggestion of subtly tingly mousse on the tongue. The dosage feels abnormally high for a wine labeled "Brut" - to me, this feels more like a Sec (or even a Demi-Sec from the drier end!). The finish is long, quite tertiary and somewhat off-dry with a complex aftertaste of orange marmalade, some pineapple tones, a little bit of saline minerality, light citrus notes of Meyer lemon and somewhat bitter grapefruit, a hint of incisive steely character and a touch of caramel.
A rather old and tertiary but still very drinkable Champagne that feels somewhat sweeter than what one would expect from a "Brut". Based on the somewhat marmaladey richness and quite pronounced tertiary notes that veer towards caramel rather than nuttiness, I'd say the dosage here is in the ballpark of 15 to 20 g/l rather than around 10 g/l. Not that it's a bad thing per se - I can imagine that residual sugar has helped the wine to survive in somewhat sound condition for this long. Although the wine has probably seen better days and is starting to feel a bit tired now, it is still in perfectly enjoyable condition, all things considered.

Delicately concentrated, delicately floral and fruity, lithe which some will find a plus and others a minus. A pretty face, timid, lacking an interesting personality.

Cellared for 2 years, which has clearly benefited this bottle. The complexity has deepened, the acidity is even more integrated and beneath the apples and citrus a sweetness of brioche and biscoff emerges. This is a wonderful wine and very affordable.

A New Year's Eve Gathering at our place: PnP, chilled. Disgorged in the second quarter of 2016 yet still quite fresh with overly vibrant bubbles. Slo-oxing for a few minutes in the glass calmed it down. The color was a clear light-medium straw yellow. The palate presented a good dose of lemon, some pear, yellow apple and minerality. The yeasty, brioche element of which we are least fond was held to a minimum, which made this bottle quite enjoyable to us. This was our first bottle of L-P's NV Brut as we usually drink the NV Rose.

Claridges for political drinks reception. From magnums. Light bodied, bubbly mousse. Ripe apply fruit with a somewhat sweet core rescued (to an extent) by a crisp acidity - stick to the rosé!!! Gluggable but very average.

From 80s or 90s, OWC. Well-preserved old Champagne, lightly toasty, sublime acidity, some pickled flavors with hue of mellow yellow fruit. Very pleasurable. 92-93

Retail $45. 50% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier. I don’t drink a ton of L-P for a few reasons, not the least of which is the relative price vis-à-vis other grandes marques. Also, it is slightly less in the Pinot Noir department than what I normally like. But. Lemony-pear biscuity goodness going on here on the nose. Close to a holy cow. The palate is close to impeccably balanced between the fruit (yellow apple and pear), the yeastiness, and the “bangin’” (my teenage son's term) tartness. As I said, I do not come across L-P all that often, but I am glad I did tonight.
Difficult to give tasting note. This was fruity, fresh, well balanced. Quite delicate with nice complexity. From the cork disgorged spring 2020. Though sold ready to drink they improve with bottle age. As a rule of thumb aim to keep at least a couple of years after purchase.

Retail $45. 50% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier. Plenty of yeasty and nutty notes along with tree fruit aromas on the nose (pear, mostly). The palate exhibits plenty of finesse, lovely nutty flavors, a good balance of acidity with a dash of sweetness, and a vibrant sparkle. I tasted this blind with a dozen other sparklers and I figured this had to have a predominance of Chardonnay since the emphasis is clearly on finesse and freshness over a fuller-bodied style. The apperience was of medium intensity with a lime-lemon coloration and low viscosity, furthermore the rim variation was lighter at the rim. On the nose, the Champagne offered a light intensity, with aromas of Quince, Yellow Apple, Bread, Toasted Bread, Grapefruit, Yeast, and Raspberry. Its stage of development is developing. On the palate, the sweetness was dry, with a racy high acidity. Its perception of alcohol was medium with a medium body. The flavor intensity was medium(+) in strength, featuring aromas of: Cream, Quince, Yellow Apple, Bread, Brioche, Raspberry, Yeast and hints of Cheese. Concluding with a medium(-) finish. In conclusion the Champagne was very good in quality with percieved complexity without being too overwhelming or unbalanced. A good now drinking Champagne that I call youthful for its future to come. Drink 2020-2030.

We enjoyed this more than several NV Champagnes we've had in recent year, such as Cliquot. Definte yeast and bread on the nose and taste, along with slightly less than sweet pear. Not austere. Great pairing with cheese or any pre dinner snack. There are so many variations in French NV champagnes, this was one we liked @$39.99 at Costco. Others may prefer other styles, we don't subtract or add to our scores based on style, just quality and we thought this was very good, but a little more character and depth would result in a higher score.

My last bottle, and good riddance. At least I can taste that I'm drinking champagne, and if I could forget that they were $35 each, I might enjoy them a little. But these 4 bottles have consistently undelivered base on my previous experiences of NV bottles of the exact same champagne from friends that brought them to tastings in years past. My previous note from 6+ months ago does not need any adjustment:
This purchase from 11/2017 has consistently underperformed previous experiences with this champagne, and this producer. Middling at best. 88 points

Beautiful pale golden yellow color. Smells delicate and nutty with hints of fresh honey and brioche. Strong flavors of pear and honeydew hit the palette, then finish with some tropical lychee fruit and lime citrus. Off-dry, with a slight sweetness that lingers in the mouth.
We didn't rate it higher because the bubbles are quite aggressive upon first sip, and dissipated quickly. Not quite the journey you expect with higher-end champagnes.

Meh. Some scents of toast and apples. Pretty thin texture, good bubble structure but definitely lacking in the flavour/finesse department. Some flavours of yellow apples and toast. No finish whatsoever. Not a terrible wine by any means, but nothing that couldn’t be replaced with a $10 Prosecco. There’s better $40 Champagne to be found that is for certain.

I live in D.C. area now but I lived in Philly for a long time and would attend a wine tasting group called the Philly Oenophiles. Harry Cantrell hosted the even and saw several of the old members. This event was for Champagne. I pulled a bottle of 2008 Laurent Perrier and enjoyed it with my partner, who didn't care for the wine until he had 4 glasses of it. Then, it was the best Champagne he ever tasted. For me, it was quite acidic, very racy. But, a huge mouth feel to it which I found interesting. Lots of unripe stone fruit, like a plum not quite ripe but you know if you left it out for a couple of days it would have been perfect. I also initially drank it way too cold. I should have known better. As it warmed up it showed what it had. I have another bottle which I will let sit for several years before I open. It was very fun event. This is only the second Zoom tasting I've attended. The first was hosted by Wine.com with John Legend and JC Boisset, also fun but you couldn't talk! My thanks to Harry for hosting.

Aromas of white fruits, green apple, pear, and stone fruits. Subtle autolytic notes when cold, but once it warmed to slightly above room thermostat Ute the aromas of toast were quite prominent Dry to off-dry It is refreshing and pleasant but not deep or profound. The dominant impression is one of white fruits, however I can find that in many far less expensive sparkling wines; I come to champagne for something more.

A solid albeit on the generic side of good and entry level champagne. The epitome of aperitif style, gout Francaise, bone dry and firm. solid and the name lends itself for a celebration but that’s all. 88 and would probably make the best champagne cocktails

This champagne is not impressive. I don't get much champagne character. There is nothing overly wrong about, it just doesn't give much pleasure. I'd probably drink this by itself rather than make mimosa's out of it, but it just crosses that threshold. Sorry if it sounds harsh. 89 to average out the previous 88 given, to me this is in the 88-89 area.

Excellent QPR. White flowers, citrus, some subtle and pleasant yeasty and bready notes. Good balance of fruit, acidity, and a touch of minerality. I personally would prefer more minerality, but those who like a rounder champagne should like this. Paired great with Chile en Nogada at El Molino.

Light straw color with a fine, light mousse. Standard bouquet of citrus and a little yeasty autolysis. Though it is not especially deep nor complex, and it is just a touch sweet, I can’t help but enjoy the overall balance and crowd-pleasing gulpability this presents. Even a nice long finish. 4+10+17+8= 89

Deep golden to amber color. Very oxidative and fully tertiary nose with rather old aromas of salted nuts, toast, some caramel, a little bit of bruised apple, light smoky tones and a hint of cocoa powder. The wine is completely flat, dry and racy on the palate with flavors of bruised apple, oxidative caramel tones, a little bit of saline minerality and a hint of pithy lemon. The dosage shows as a light touch of sweetness at the tip of the tongue; otherwise the high acidity keeps the wine completely dry. The finish is acid-driven, oxidative and short with flavors of bruised apple, some caramel, a little bit of saline tang and a hint of rancio.
A wine that's completely in pieces and has been for years, if not decades. Offers nothing really at this point.

Last minute get together (Kevin's house): I brought this to a tasting based on a very delicious previous bottle. This one was different. It was much leaner and less toasty. However, with time, the body increased and it was a lively slightly rich but mostly lemon champagne. Overall ok but not in the same league as the previous bottle. 88 to 89.

Half bottle from a case of the closeout from lawineco. It's not offensive, solid for the pricepoint ($13). Very linear/simple/good acid some fruits, nose slight brioche so you know it's champs. Not that great as it warms up, so prefer it well chilled. It's a decent daily drinker. Simple, good acid, no random weirdness going on so that counts for something.

I definitely preferred this on the first night but we only had about 1/3rd of a btl left on day 2. I use champagne stoppers to keep the fizz as long as possible over multiple nights but this had lost most of its mojo by Saturday night. This must have went down extra easy on Friday for 3 of us to polish off 2/3rds on the first night :). I had purchased one of these locally "on sale" for $37 which is only a couple dollars higher than the national average on WS Pro :). None the less, this was a very fun drink on the first night with excellent lift and energy along with; some lush apple, tart lemon, yeasty notes and very decent closing minerality. Score based on night 1. Very very solid value here for under $40. Personally, I prefer grabbing the volume value of the big houses basic wine vs. spending at least $10 - $20 more for most Grower stuff. Near as I can tell, this is not the LP btll and I think this is one step up from the the LP or, they dropped the LP designation???
Celebrando com Champa e japa food. Atraente visual amarelo palha com tons dourados. Borbulhas fartas, pequenas, longevas. A repetir!

Pale lemon yellow, Laurent-Perrier's classically-styled non-vintage brut opens with a cheerful torrent of cascading, brisk bubbles. It’s a clean champagne, full of luscious pear, baked apple, whipped butter, and dusted in granulated honey. Palate cleansing without too much sapidity from the dosage, it closes with a slight mineral edge, and a touch of chamomile flower. Sample

Crystal clear gold, steady fizz. Nose is initially sulfurous but later shows more complex aromas. Medium body, flavorful, moderately sparkling, restrained alcohol, average length. NV LAURENT-PERRIER MAISON FONDEE 1812 BRUT- on the heels of a CdC, this could not hold up to that level, but it did please and earn some respect for being tasty, crisp, refreshing and having nice acidity; there was bright citrus, pear and apple flavours carried in a medium to full body.

NV LAURENT-PERRIER BRUT- almost as an after thought, this comes around and my palate is already primed for the big event wines; loving champagne as I do, I had to pour a taste even though I`ve had a significant amount of this pleasant bubbly over the years and really could pass in favor of the 38 bottles of Ridge forthcoming; as expected, it satisfied with little bursts of lemon, lime and kiwi along with its light frothy mousse.

This showed up to a party we did and it sat in the fridge for 2 days after under a cork. Gotta say, held up well and it drinks nicely, too. Squarely made in a green apple style, with a pinch of lemon-lime that has a 7-Up feel, making me think this is dosage to a level for a broader demographic.

Champagne Laurent-Perrier Brut NV: Light gold in color with precise, medium bubbles dancing harmoniously in the glass. The nose shows aromas of yeast and toasted brioche, as well as white peaches and lemon. On the palate, a refined and vibrant mousse. Medium to full-bodied, racy mouth-feel, with notes of crème fraîche, Anjou pears, preserved lemons, orange rind, almonds, challah dough, high yet well-balanced acidity with notes of vanilla and lime on the long and elegant finish. On the fruity side, some citruses and apples, crisp and clean, fresh, nicely balanced and was prefered by most of the people opposed to some other nv rivals - probably because of that fruity side, which as well made it a perfect aperitif.

Fine bubbles in the glass and a classic medium lemon colour. Clean on the nose: aromas are well defined and the yeasty character is clearly perceivable, but not exaggerated (bread dough, pastry). Vanilla and nutty hints makes it even more appealing and gives an impression of roundness and softness. Ripe stone fruit complete the picture. In the mouth the bubbles feels fine, the creamy texture is very pleasant and gives weight to the palate. Acidity is relatively low for a Champagne: the wine is not flabby, but i would put i more on the rich side of the spectrum. The finish is delicate, but the nuttiness and vanilla character linger in the palate for some 20 seconds.
I like soft champagnes more than crispy ones, so my rating also reflects my taste, but I find this one quite good, especially because it is not that expensive (not the cheapest either, but still budget friendly)
North Shore Weekend; 9/24/2015-9/26/2015 (North Shore, MN): Pale gold color. Split a 375ml bottle over dinner. This was decidedly mineral driven tonight, lots of citrus on the nose and palate. The palate is sour citrus and this finishes a bit more chalky than ideal for me.

Initially completely spoiled overall impression by a weird and unpleasant finish w notes of gelatin, synthetic citrus and detergent (!) - and I did not wash the glass w anything perfumed, and actually rinsed it w running water before tasting. Airing in the glass makes most of the troublesome aromas disappear and you're left w a decent champagne, lots of yellow and red apples, some red grapefruit and a little mineral. Acidity is not pronounced, mousse notthing remarkable but mouthfeel still nice enough. Pretty dull, but not bad.

I found this to be a very serviceable NV without being anywhere near special. The nose was pleasant enough, with notes of yeast, lemons, green apples and mineral. Very bright and fresh on the palate, again with limes and lemons, a bit of stone and spice. Simple, but a bit of heat at the edges aside, very drinkable and pretty good with light sushi. I dare say you would get more bang for the buck with an equivalent bottle from most of the up-and-coming growers though.

Retail $45. 50% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier.

Retail $45. 50% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier.

But these 4 bottles have consistently undelivered base on my previous experiences of NV bottles of the exact same champagne from friends that brought them to tastings in years past. My previous note from 6+ months ago does not need any adjustment:

An acceptable to good champagne.
Aromas of white fruits, green apple, pear, and stone fruits. Subtle autolytic notes when cold, but once it warmed to slightly above room thermostat Ute the aromas of toast were quite prominent
Dry to off-dry
It is refreshing and pleasant but not deep or profound. The dominant impression is one of white fruits, however I can find that in many far less expensive sparkling wines; I come to champagne for something more.

A bottle from the early 1970's.

Excellent QPR. White flowers, citrus, some subtle and pleasant yeasty and bready notes. Good balance of fruit, acidity, and minerality. I personally would prefer more minerality, but those who like a rounder champagne should like this.

Pale lemon yellow, Laurent-Perrier's classically-styled non-vintage brut opens with a cheerful torrent of cascading, brisk bubbles. It’s a clean champagne, full of luscious pear, baked apple, whipped butter, and dusted in granulated honey. Palate cleansing without too much sapidity from the dosage, it closes with a slight mineral edge, and a touch of chamomile flower. Sample

Feirer at jeg har fått ny stilling (SDL) Rik og flott stil alle gode champagne aromaer på plass, heller mot røde epler. Klapper litt sammen med luft og økt temperatur, blir litt søt og pump.

Drunk over three days. Very bright and focused initially, quite taut, lemon fruit. Mellows with air to show a little softer whilst retaining the lemon zing. Good aperitif fizz. ***

Technically not the best NV brüt Champagne, but it's my favorite due to it's style. Citric, crispy, balanced, elegant. Fresh baked bread with lemon...

Trop dosé pour moi, acidité gommée, peu de plaisir et l'impression de boire quelque chose de doux! (et pourtant c'est brut!). à regoûter.

In the nose slightly biscuity, citrus, somewhat aromatic, a quite classic Champagne aromas. On the palate dry, medium body, rather fruity, grapefruit notes, rather good acidity, some bitterness that reduces the rating somewhat. 87-88 p. A Champagne in classical, strict style.

For me it's one of the best non-vintage mass produced champagne. Nice acidity, great length, a hint of flowers and lots of fruit with a brioche ending. Young but round.
