This was the best bottle of Ornellaia that I’ve had. Came singing out of magnum and wowed the crowd at Christmas dinner. Was it the lg format that made the difference? I’m not sure, but it seemed to start to close down at the end of the long meal, suggesting that there may be a long life left for this wine the larger bottles.

Drank at Cellar Masters Saturday Super Tuscan tasting. Beautiful soft integrated tannins. Warm cedar, cola, sweet cigar, cherry & black fruit. Wonderful wine drinking amazing at this place. has a good 5-10 more years of life. Drink it now if you have it.

This has a very dark colour and intense, smoky, blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, with a natural sweetness; a profound wine, with great depth of flavour and a long finish. Drinking well now, but should keep for many years.

This has been a prolific CNY period, where I shared with buddies 4 of my wine heroes.. Monte Bello 2001, Lynch Bages 2004, Sassicaia 2009 and this Ornellaia.
However, this aged Super Tuscan remained restrained throughout the night. Tight nose, blackberries and light leather palate.
Tannins better resolved after 4 hours, dark chocolate mid palate & long finish.
9th bottle of 11, "Of legal age" theme at Casa SKT with Chef LMK. How did I fulfil the 21 year vintage? This 16 year old Ornellaia, and 5 year old Batar!

initially thin hot and messy 3 hours later more settled into an elegant groove with an explosive nose with demure dark fruit and evolved tannins this may stay at this level but will not get better imo

From the very first sip this was magnificent, fully integrated with no harsh edges and ultra soft tannins. Long 20 sec finish, hated to see it go but I don't think it will get any better from here, also don't think you should hold much longer if you have them, maybe still has 3-4 years left but no reason to wait. Drink and enjoy, lived up to its reputation.
This has reached it's plateau of maturity and shows lovely complex flavors of dark berry fruit with notes of minerals and eucalyptus. Also a very good match with wild boar pasta.

From a Magnum. Sad to see this one go. Gave it a 2-3 hour decant, but I T needed 6-8 hours. A lovely wine, but it needs way more time to achieve its potential.

PNP, An excellent Ornellaia, showing rich deep dark youthful fruits with beautiful balancing textures. A lovely earthy chocolate edge makes this especially interesting. A strong vintage for this wine and going strong. No rush to drink, but awesome now.

Decanted for 3-4h and enjoyed during our cheese pizza holiday wine dinner. Light oak on the nose, luxuriant silky red fruit on the palate, long finish. One of my two favorite wines of the night. Outstanding!

129 notes exist before this one explaining why this is glorious - I can only say that as I was tasting this I was acutely aware that it was by head and shoulders the finest wine I have tried so far in my short oenophile career. It was as close to perfect as I have encountered, and helped a lot in understanding how there could really be something like a "100-point wine". Despite all that, I can't in good consciousness give this 100 or even 99 points, as I had the sense that this is maybe too perfectly-formed. Perhaps it lacked some charming quirk to push it into "transcendent" territory. This was pretty bloody close though!

hedonistic "sweet" fruit on the nose remind me we're in Tuscany not Bordeaux. Lot of tobacco, black fruit, leather. Very full but never overpowering. Tannins nicely resolved.
from magnum. decanted ~1.5 hours before first sip at 7:30pm: **mistake**. wine improved all night, 5 hours later right before I went to bed drinking at peak for evening. ugh what was I thinking opening this so late. for a redo I'd do at least 4 hours before. not sure about regular bottle size.
side note: did *not* go as great with a huge (2"+) grilled bone-in ribeye as I expected. it went well just was not that "perfect" pairing. I think resolved tannins had something to do with that. I think braised meat, lamb or perhaps game better. Part of the wine could not totally overcome the meat + fat + grill char and steak crust combo.

No notes taken. This bottle was in a beautiful first stage of maturity with a first wave of tertiary aromas complementing the all the fruity notes. Nicely layered, expressive, quite precise (but with upside), super balanced and harmonious, creamy and sexy. Blind I would have guessed it to be at least 10 years older (I guess that’s what a too hot storage facility at the restaurant does to your wines). I would live to try this again soon. Ah, and one word again: Ornellaia beats Sassicaia all day every day.

Drank at lunch. Tuscan day of 2011 tignanello, 2007 ornaleia, and 2009 flaccianello. The ornelia I felt was the most refined, the flac had a rougher finish, and the tig may have needed. Few more years in the cellar. All were very similar and impressive.

NYE - No real notes. A great vintage for Ornellaia. Pure fruit, ripe and riche, but very balanced. Showing allot of left bank trade marks, gravel and pipe tobacco combined with the Bolgheri touch. Some great evolvement since last bottle, starting to enter the next level - more to come if you are patient.

Dark colour, ripe nose, dense and concentrated. Dark fruit, cassis, leather but also some fresh mint notes. Some dark chocolate as well. Very fine nose. On the palate - wow, some nice evolution giving some complex notes of autumn leaves, coffee, tea with a backbone of fine tannins which are fully integrated. The wine also retains an excellent level of freshness. Long and complex. Very fine wine which is a pleasure to drink now but you could easily age for another decade in my opinion.

I was a little disappointed with this wine given the price and (mostly) rave reviews. No question it is a high quality wine, but not really done to my personal liking. Found it over-ripe and heavily extracted. Alcohol too high too (too much heat). Just seamed out of balance for me and too much like a huge Napa cab than an old world wine.

Clear medium garnet; clean medium nose of cassis, cedar, musty leather, black berries and cracked fall leaves; dry; medium plus acidity; high tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; pronounced flavour intensity; pfn with addition of tar and dark chocolate; long finish; outstanding quality; drink now or in another 5 years

dark inky black, brick rim - simple nose of dark red fruit (blackberry, ripe plum, some cassis), but notable lacking in complex aromas - big body but acid and tannins predominate in the mouth at this time - moderate 20-30 sec clean finish - my first bottle of 6 - at this point, I'm worried a little about whether the fruit will hold and evolve as the tannins resolve - but it will always be a high acid wine (it's Italian, duh) - will try again in a year or so, as it certainly won't go bad anytime soon - the only question is whether it will continue to evolve with more complexity - I'll wait and see

Wine is dry with medium plus acidity, fine, medium tannins, high alcohol, medium, very refined body. Medium plus flavor intensity of dried cherries, prunes, chocolate leather. Finish is medium plus and very pleasing. Very good wine, perfect now. Can cellar longer but can’t get much better

Drank from 375ml. Still young, benefits a lot from a few hours of air. There are still some firm (but approachable) tannin on the finish even after 4 hours in the decanter. Very enjoyable nevertheless, but I think this will improve a lot over the next 5-10 years... clearly built for the long haul. This wine is super powerful yet elegant at the same time. Bridges the gap between modern and classic styles. Really good!

Brought with us to Seared 1200 Chophouse (St. Pete Beach) to celebrate Kerry's birthday. Had a couple of Proseccos while we gave this about 45 minutes in a decanter. Initially a bit tight, this opened up beautifully after about an hour. Got better and better until the bottle was finally gone. Not quite as powerful on the nose as previous Ornellaias, but on the palate this was spectacular. Full-bodied and rich, but not by any means over done - displaying in full the elegance and under-stated power that has always been its hallmark. Bursting with tangy, delicious plum, blackberry and dark currant fruit. Shows incredible depth and intensity. Builds and builds on the palate. Even the tiniest sip seems to completely saturate the mouth and then goes on for minutes. The amazingly long, complex finish features prominent notes of licorice, coffee, mineral and spice. A truly magnificent wine that leaves an indelible impression and reminds you that there is nothing else quite like an Ornellaia. 50+5+12+19+9=95
With 2 US wine , Merus 07 and Mount Eden 08 The Ornellaia was by far the best - as I hoped. The elegant Bolgheri with minerality and the Black Dark fruit. Wow !

Should have decanted the wine. It is a modern, big and powerful super tuscan that has juicy dark fruit, oak and ink on the nose and palate. Lots of lots of power and depth. This is still a baby.

Ken's Intro Retro - "New" Cult Cali Cab (Northbrook, IL): Double blind (and a ringer the Cali Cab themed lineup). A 'wow' nose is full with tremendous depth and complexity -- a medley of black plum fruit, tobacco, herbs, leather and spice. The palate follows suit and is insanely good with so much flavor complexity and depth. Very long. Delicious already but should improve with age. My #1, Group #1. Awesome ringer. I was guessing this was a Togni or similar old school Napa producer.

Chicago Wine Flock...Ken Goes Cult Cab (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): Tasted blind as a "ringer" in 2007 cult Cali Cab flight. Elegant black fruit with restrained aromas, powerful flavors and exceptional textures. Black and red cherry with great length and unfolding layers of flavors and nuance. 7 of the 10 of us were able to correctly identify this wine as the flight's non-Cali. My 2nd favorite wine of the flight, group's #1.

Wow! This is an excellent bottle of Bolgheri indeed. As predicted 5 years ago, not a whole lot of development, but I might have been wrong on peak and a longer future. I get the feeling that this might improve further from tonight’s showing. Very fine and Bordeaux like in its overall profile. Nose is filled with lovely black ripe cherries, some developed stable notes starting to emerge mixed with herbs and fine oak and spices. Licorice, leather, grass/herbs, cedar and earth is present in the second and underlying layers. Palate is dense and rich, ripe and powerful, without being too much or over extracted. Rich dark cherries, ripe black currants, licorice, earth. Very good balance despite the rich fruit profile, with excellent acidity to keep things within balanced boundaries. A complex Ornellaia, with a superb length and great depth. Simply fab! (94 – 95+)

2007 TENUTA dell`ORNELAIA “ORNELLAIA” BOLGEHRI SUPERIORE TOSCANA- 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot; this youngster was a big boy just having experienced puberty being full of energy, vibrant and exuberant; it readily gives up fresh, ripe fruitiness with a dominance of sweet black cherry with lesser but distinct black currant, blackberry and plum embellished with sandalwood, cedar, chocolate and licorice accents and a hit of talc at the end; it was surprisingly silky smooth and eventually charming although it took some time to get there.

Medium bodied. Licorice and leather notes. Plum and blackberry. Silky smooth tannins on the long finish. A nice bridge on the continuum between a ripe California Cab and a more restrained Bordeaux. Drinking well today, has a good short term drinking window.

A very signature aroma of Italian fruit. Rich fruit, spices, dirt, soy. The aroma, however, was concentrated in the glass and did not readily explode out the glass like some aromatics. Concentrated flavors delivered to the palate. Dark fruit, dirt, grainy tannins, acids. Slight bitterness at the lasting finish. This bottle seemed more restrained than what I was expecting, but the flavors show there was a power potential. Perhaps the 2 hours decant may affect some of the aspects of this wonderful wine. Nevertheless, an excellent wine to enjoy.

Stunning. It jumped out of the bottle with an intense nose of leather and grilled savoury herbs notes. Liquorice, spices and tobacco. The palate was sensational with dark cherries, sweet blueberries and plum jelly dominating the fruit notes, while paring the fruit with strong notes of cocoa, coffee and oak. Super silky tannins, completely integrated. Long, juicy finish. My last bottle, and I can't decide if I am more sad cause I have no more, or happier because I was able to enjoy such a great Ornellaia. If you find it, get it.

The nose was dark and intense, showing crushed black cherry, dusty spice, plum sauce and hints of saw dust. On the palate, I found rich, silky textures with notes of ripe red fruits, tobacco and sweet herbs, turning savory toward the back palate, as hints of tannin and vibrant acidity contrasted. The finish lingered long, showing a mix of cherry, plum and spice. The 2007 is in a great place right now and still has many years of development ahead.

Drank at Ornellaia tasting introducing the 2012 vintage. Dark ruby red in color, no aging apparent in the glass. Generous nose of black fruits, some tobacco & some oak. Black fruits on the palate, though not overly ripe. Somewhat of an herbal or greenness to this vintage. Still quite enjoyable, if not the best example of this great wine producer.

The nose was forward, practically oozing with rich dark fruits, autumnal spice, vanilla, fresh tobacco and a hint of herbs. On the palate, I found velvety textures with ripe blackberry, cherry liquor and mocha. It turned slightly herbal and tart on the finish with a coating of dusty tannin lingering on the senses.
Unfortunately, this is not the wine I remember from years ago, as it lacks the balance to contrast its ripe, velvety intensity. That said, there are still plenty of people who will love it for what it is, instead of what I had hoped it would become.

Tasted blind. The 2007 is more closed than the others to start with but in the end this one is the most accessible of the trio. Dark fruit, notes of some greenness, oak. Great balance and a lot of everything again. In my own notes I had this down as a left bank Bordeaux from one of relatively recent vintage (05 or 09) of good concentration. My favourite between the three Ornellaias. 55% Cab, 27% Merlot and 14% Cab Franc. 94-95p.

Slimmer and slightly greener than the 2010 and 2011. More Cabernet Sauvignon character. A little scorched earth, barnyard, sulfuric minerality, blackcurrants and black morello cherries. Medium+ acidity, with a slimmer body compared to the younger vintages. Still very high intensity and a long, fresh finish. Lots of rough tannins and a slight seedy bitterness in the finish.
I most definitely prefer this more restrained style, and my guess was classic Bordeaux.

Dark ruby (almost black) turning violet at the rim with an ethereal nose of such complexity and richness - giving off cherries, licorice, liqueur, vanilla, meat, black tea and eaucalyptus. The palate is absurdly complex and mind-boggling. Finishes about a minute with flavors of caramel toast. Drink now with 1-hr decanting or 2017 to 2032. 97-98 Pts.

This is begging for some more time in the bottle, and compared to the 06' I had recently still has a ways to go in terms of alcohol integration. But very delicious at the moment as well. Kind of an espresso, mocha, mixed with licorice, olive, dark ripe fruits - blueberries, blackberry, cassis. A very nice wine, everything I love about Ornellaia -great mid palate, but balance is a bit off in the finish- however should be very solid in a few more years.

Drank one hour after opening (no decant) and continued to do so over the next four hours. Deep reddish purple in color. Very alcoholic on the nose - terroir and dark fruit, followed by mint. Excellent flavor and oh so smooth, but with just a bit more edge than the 2006. Probably needs a few more years in the cellar. Deep legs left on the glass. Lots of life left on this one.

Oh ya! This baby is drinking quite well right now. Milk chocolate, black tea, coffe... Tannins are surprisingly soft at this young age. Very well balanced with a nice long finish. Decanted and drank across 2 hours alongside 1999 Harlan, 2006 Bond St. Eden, 2006 Chappellet Pritchard Hill, 2008 Mascot(Will Harlan's new wine) and a 1995 Muga Rioja. Almost black in color with a dense nose of black fruit and cocoa. The palate is intensely concentrated, opulent and muscular but with a soft, velvety texture accompanied by flavors of dark cherry, currant, black tea, dark chocolate, graphite, and clove. The finish is just phenomenal - heightened and structured with sleek, dusty tannin. Wow, this is magnificent! Structured, balanced, multi-dimensional, layered, and elegant. This would give the 2004 vintage a good fight, and certainly better than the 1997. Amazing wine! Drink now with a 2-hr decant until 2027.

Lovely intense nose of dark black fruit and a hint of wood but in nice balance. Also some spices and a hit of pepper when given a little air. The palet is big and powerful in the first part of the mouth and the finish is perfectly balanced with lovely tannins to tame the fruit. A really big and heavy wine but still with lovely control and balance! A wine the will develop within the next 10 years at least:-)

A nice and fruit filled, lovely and forward Ornellaia. As most of the 2007 Italian wines I have tasted seem to be, this is very fruit filled and forward, and open for business already in this early stage. A bit like the 07 Burgundy’s. Good to drink now, but perhaps not the most long lived and complex of vintages? It will still develop and become better than today, but not for real long-term aging. Tasted blind and pinpointed down as Ornellaia – 07 already on the nose. The characteristics are all in there, very Italian and very typical for both the vintage and the producer. Dark, full, deep color. The nose was lovely, ripe & clean fruit ,with some vanilla/oak (not overwhelming in any way, but very present), dark chocolate, cedar wood, espresso coffee and some dry dust (from the Cab Franc) present. Soft and silky in the mouth, perhaps not very complex, but easy to love. Sweet red and black ripe fruit, plums, cherries, blueberries, dark chocolate, balsamic tones, soft tannins and soft acidity. I believe it lacks some of the spine to become a classic in long term, but who cares when you can drink this now and really enjoy it, while you are waiting for your 06:es to develop?

Dinner Party @ Home: Ellen's Take on Lidia Bastianich's(Felidia, NYC) Cuisine (Icon Brickell, 465 Brickell Avenue, #3303, Miami, FL 33131): - Aromas of black currant, blackberry, violet and cedar. It's balanced and has flavours of black currant, blackberry and licorice anise with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Based on CellarTracker comments decanted for 2+hrs. WRONG!!! BEST RIGHT OUT OF THE BOTTLE, WHEN IT RESEMBLED AN AUTHENTIC ORNELLAIA. Lacks the structure for aging, as JR points out more Cali, than Italian! I PRAY THE 07 MASETTO DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS!

Opened and decanted (briefly) at a restaurant. The nose was quite subdued in the beginning but during the meal grew and evolved with dark fruit, some chocolate and coffee as well as pepper and leather notes. Some pleasant oak is distinguishable and extremely velvety tannins. No doubt it would have benefitted with a longer decanting. On the palate very soft, almost a silky texture in the mouth. Still, it had deep, dark blueberry notes as well as a very discreet hint of some sweetness, perhaps prunes or figs. All in all a super experience, but at the same time an almost "over the top-velvety" wine.

Opened w 3 hour decant, returned to the bottle then another 45 minutes bottle air. Beautiful deep ruby color, dark to the edge. After almost 4 hours of air the nose was dark fruits, beef/leather, anise and light oaky notes. On the palate, big - dark fruit, grilled meats, licorice, spice, light oak and hints of chocolate. Big body, well integrated silky tannins and long, long finish. Having just tasted the '06 this was clearly a lesser vintage but still a worthy Ornellaia that will improve with age.

Opened and decanted. This wine needs several hours decanting. Unfortunately it was a restaurant purchase which allowed only for about 45 minutes. Nose was initially muted but blossomed into dark fruit, mocha, dark chocolate, some pepper, leather. After 45 minutes I began to smell blood, beef, dark black fruit, some bacon notes. Interestingly little oak, if any was detected. Dark purple to the rim. VERY Bordeaux like without the terroir. The cab franc was attempting to express but just came to the edge. I probably should have 'chilled' slightly. Big Very Strong Legs. Good mellow mid palate of dark fruit, spice and well inegrated tannins. This wine should show very well in 3-5 years yet is approachable now. Based upon the notes of many who drank this wine in 2010 I again reiterate that this wine needs bottle age to really express its beauty. Is it worth the price point. Well, for those who love it YES. I would consider purcahsing as an investment for 3-5 years. May have to try one more with a 3-4 hour or longer decant to see what we get.

Deep ruby red. Nose of liquorice, black fruits, slightly toasty over a balsamic and grassy background. Full bodied, powerful and elegant at the same time with silky tannins and a good acidity. Very young. Endless finish of liquorice and dark fruits.
Rubino cupo impenetrabile. Naso di liquirizia, frutti neri, leggera tostatura, fondo balsamico ed erbaceo . In bocca e pieno morbido con un tannino finissimo e infiltrate, discreta acidità, molto giovana. Finale lunghissimo interminabile di liquirizia e frutti neri

It was too young, but wonderful. The blend is so balanced and lovely it really, and I can't believe I'm saying this, is worth the money. This deserves at least another 5 years of cellaring.

CT Wine Tasting (Wethersfield CT): 3rd wine in an Italian Tasting brought by Adam - Decanted for 4 hours. A deep violet color this wine had Napa-Cab like scents on the nose, cassis and espresso. A well balanced wine with velvet tannins and a long finish. This was very Bordeaux like and found out later as I was writing this note this Super Tuscan did not contain any Sangiovese, which explains the notes. The 2007 Ornellaia is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.

Nose very pretty, not as sweet and in-your-face as the Redigaffi tasted before it. This is a tighter nose, more elegant. Very appealing on the nose, with some lead pencil coming out with some air, and some sweet fruits with a touch of sur-maturite. Has an interesting tartness on the palate, showing the sangio. Not as dark and brooding as you might expect from the nose.
On the palate, the graphite, coffee, and spice with sweetish (and not overripe) fruits project an elegant, pretty wine with some power. Delicious, delicious wine, but not quite wowed by this; the spice and bitterness show slightly on the finish at times. May turn out to be better wine than the Redigaffi in the long run, with its tight core and tangy acidity. 92-93+

Gambero Rosso (Metropolitan Pavilion): The nose showed red currant, fall leaves, green pepper and a hint of oak. On the palate, this wine was like velvet, as currant and spicy dark woods glimpsed out from a shroud of tannin. It was gorgeously balanced with vibrant acidity and will likely age into something reminiscent of old school Bordeaux. The 2007 Ornellaia may not be for the fan of large-scale cabernet but I have a feeling there is a huge market of traditionalists that will love this wine.

Tight at first, but overall well balanced - tannin, alcohol, acidity...very good nose...opened up more after 30 min. Great wine but giving it 92 for the price. Raspberry, some leather, a hint of tobacco. Fruitier than the 06. Long full finish, very satisfying. Was drinking against an 07 Round Pond, which had a more ripe pungent sweet fruit nose but not quite the depth and finish compared to the big O.

Mild in flavor. I can not distinguish any particular fruit flavor. Metallic, and rusty in taste. I am not impressed for the price. Drank a $5.00 bottle of Lindeman's before this that had greater complexity.

Even though this is young, the nose is really explosive. Mocha and cherry, leather and raspberry, spice and tar, and a some herbs at the end. The palate was rich, with espresso and cherry, raspberry and spice, and a nice leathery finish.

Also finally tasted an Orneillia. Tasted at the LCBO tasting counter; 2nd day since openning. High expectations and was disappointed. Perhaps the year or the repetitively openned bottle. Colour - dark purple. Nose - Ample fruit, some raisin. Palette - Tannic, some raisin, some off flavours. Overall, disappointing. No complexity or finesse. No interesting fruit. Needs time. The Orneillia Serre Noeve I drank a while ago was better. QPR relative to other wines: poor.

The Ultimate Wine Experience (Binny's South Loop - Chicago, IL): Tarry. Again, classic culty Italian aromas. Great dark cherry, pink pepper spice, tobacco clove and cinnamon. Baking spice, on the palate that is a bit short on the finish and mid palate. Tannins are big. Good but over-hyped in my book.

14,5%. Usual composition is Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 20-25% (for freshness, paradoxically), 15% Cabernet Franc, 2-4% Petit Verdot (works especially well in hot vintages). On the market from May 2010. Hallmark refinement of the vintage. Aromas are like a vortex of sweet black fruit, dusty minerals and light spice. Noble freshness of Cabernet on the palate, refined cedar and fruit, good volume, quite expressed spice at the moment. Solid tannic structure, toast and chocolate as well as spice need to mellow over the years to bring the wine to a perfect harmony.

As with the 2004, this will score higher and higher every time re-tasted. A great, classic Ornellaia with all the power, complexity and sheer pleasure that this wine is capable to offer. Stunning nose with liquorice, dark berries, oak, earthy notes and much more that is hard to describe, followed by a full-bodied yet nicely weighted palate with everything in the right proportion. Very long finish. Will reach its prime after 3-5 years and will drink nicely for many more.

Italian Night (Binny's Lincoln Park): Ok, don't get me wrong, this was a fantastic wine - but not a mid to high ninties caliber of vino. The nose was quite aromatic with some nice fruit, but there was some strong rusty qualities that were just a bit offputting. The wine was big and over the top, but not in a fruity or alcoholic sense - instead it was in a metallic earthy, black herbal tea way. This is loaded with burnt blackish herbs. It almost smelled like an Earl Gray tea that was steeped for way too long. The finish was long but extremely tannic on the back end. My mouth was completely dry to the point I needed water. I like rustic wines, but the slight austerity just didn't work for my palate as much as I sincerely wanted it to. This is a world class wine and I'm sure many people will love it, but something just wasn't completely clicking for me to merit this a higher score. Again, 92 points is an extremely solid score, but not for a wine at this price point with this pedigree. I just don't see all the hype.

Drank at the estate over lunch. As I wrote, the weather was too hot making it difficult to appreciate red wines of the full-bodied, dense style of Ornellaia. Very dark purple, almost opaq. Initially restrained and tight compared to Le Serre Nuove but gradually opening to reveal gorgeous mint, eucalypt, dark chocolate, spices and levander with derk cherry and smoke. Very complex. Full-bodied with soft tanins, big fruit, balancing acidity and a very long finish. Rich, generous and dense but by no means heavy. Lacks the finesse and class of Sassicaia, but it is excellent for what it is.

Tasted in Las Vegas as WS Grand Tour. WOTN for me. Amazing lifted notes of cherry, cassis and toasted oak. Pure, seamless. Blueberry, cherry, spice box, leather notes. Sweet and powerful. Lithe, with fine grained tanin and tart pomogranate on the finish. A stunnng wine.

Pure fruit, ripe and riche, but very balanced.

Very fine wine which is a pleasure to drink now but you could easily age for another decade in my opinion.

dark inky black, brick rim - simple nose of dark red fruit (blackberry, ripe plum, some cassis), but notable lacking in complex aromas - big body but acid and tannins predominate in the mouth at this time - moderate 20-30 sec clean finish - my first bottle of 6 - at this point, I'm worried a little about whether the fruit will hold and evolve as the tannins resolve - but it will always be a high acid wine (it's Italian, duh) - will try again in a year or so, as it certainly won't go bad anytime soon - the only question is whether it will continue to evolve with more complexity - I'll wait and see

Une bouche gourmande et soyeuse.Presque délicate.Poivrons mi-vert-mi-orange.

Simply fab!

This was very Bordeaux like and found out later as I was writing this note this Super Tuscan did not contain any Sangiovese, which explains the notes.

Blind tasting. 07 vintage vs 06 vintage, each from half bottle, and open for three hours each. All three tasters choice the 07 vintage at this stage, a big surprise!

Concentrated, tarry nose. Firm, rich and smoky palate with minerally flavours. Long, dense finish. Needs at least another five years.
4/5
