(Chateau Haut Brion) This was just amazing wine and one of the best Bordeaux I have ever had. My first time with this legendary wine. I was expecting to be hit over the head but instead I got a back massage. Delmas' masterpiece as Dave so aptly put it. Defines the whole cerebral element of Haut-Brion with one sniff. Just a cacophany of Haut-Brion goodness seamlessly presented. Tobacco, spice, gravel, mineral, cassis, cherries, cedar, tweed but in such a refined package. Palate had an amazing texture and wonderful acidity which made it come alive on your palate. So elegant and ripe but the harmony here is what separates it from the pack. The finish is brillant and lip-smacking and soooooo long. A masterpiece no matter how you look at it.

Pnp. Not fully opened but it had incredible substance and weightless power that were pending to be unleashed. So much regalness on the palate.

Gevrey 2007 Grand Cru Dinner Preceding by Magical Meursault (Chicago, IL): Opened/ decanted 90 minutes before tasting. Pristine condition and cork. Wonderfully spiced aromas to start with ripe black fruits and s hint of liqueur. Far less forthcoming flavors, even though wonderfully fresh, just lacking depth and volume vs previous bottles. Oh well.

No decant. Popped and tasted every 15min. It was ready in 20mins. We also tasted La Mission Haut Brion and Chateau Client all 1989. Also 1995 Chateau Palmer and 2005 Chateau Rauzan-Gassies. The Haut Brion and C. Palmer took the night easily. The Haut Brion was gloriously subtle but still had a complex boutique of flavors! Notes of black tea, cherry, prune, jasmine, and some capsicum. There was a hint of flint, soy sauce, leather, and truffle. One of the longest finishes for a wine I've tasted in a while. Great classic and will pop another in a couple of months. A prodigy vintage!
