Bordeaux first-growth lunch: The MW had an interesting comment that '82 was the turning point for Bordeaux, where the fruit became noticeably riper. I hadn't thought about this before and based on today and previous experiences, I am inclined to agree. Thought this was quite similar to the '79 but with a little more plumminess and tea-like flavours. More energy than the '79 and marginally more interesting.

Medium garnet in the glass from the decanter, with an 1/4 inch rim of orange.
Medium plus intense aromas from the glass, but they are spectacular. Leather, black pepper, graphite, baked red cherry underneath black tea, bergamot, and blood. Ultra-complex.
Flavors carry over from the nose, with a long finish of iron, black tea, and leather.
Mouthfeel is dry, medium bodied, with medium plus acidity and a lovely, silty, medium tannic structure. Just a wow-experience.

Thanks Garth for bringing this to my b-day party! Tons of saddle leather, cedar, and faded red fruit, well balanced meditation wine. I really enjoyed this, but no detailed notes. Consistent with my previous note.

Still holding up. Was best 1 hour after opening. I would drink remaining bottles soon as the fruit is disappearing.!
