What I call "Christmas spice" on the nose: nutmeg, marzipan, prunes. Signs of ageing all over and it's only '05. I bet the '06 isn’t like this. It's really nice though. Soft and caressing, surprisingly acidic, almost bitter. Good tension between sweet and savoury. Chalky. Delicious.

Tuscan wines of North London (Terra Rossa): From magnum, and at an excellent stage of evolution in this large format. Ample, inviting and deep with blackcurrant and a touch of truffle. Loved the long finish.

2/2, good cork, decanted 1/2 hour. Medium/deep ruby/garnet, pale garnet rim. Nose is attractive, quite youthful, red cherry, spice. Medium/full bodied, quite bright with sour red cherry fruit, quite youthful still, not particularly deep or long but well balanced and attractive with a touch of tea. Drinking well but showing no signs of falling apart.

Smooth and full of well knitted flavors of rasberry, briar and earth. Very yummy
