  • Stood up for months and decanted off age-appropriate sediment. Deep ruby with age-appropriate bricking; medium-plus intensity aromatics with blackberry, capsicum, tobacco, smoky cedar, forest floor; palate is medium-full bodied, refreshing medium-plus acidity throughout, very balanced medium alcohol (honestly could be 12.5%), perfect balance of some residual youthful fruit with early tertiary complexity and fully integrated tannins; medium length finish. This is superbly balanced bordeaux at maturity, showing impeccable fruit and additional complexity. Ready to go immediately after decanting, but this should have a few years left in it. (Also ready to go now, and I'll start drinking through my bottles.) Unlike my note from 2018, this wasn't at all thin through the midpalate and seems balanced throughout. Of note, none of the rustic tannin-heavy feel of most St. Estephe. The balance on this is really a standout. 94
Double decanted when first opened, retasted 5-6 hours later and this had started to fade a bit and lose some vibrancy. Drink when first opened.

  • [Dinner at Salil's. Double decanted an hour and a half before serving.] Loads of rich fruit in the nose with hints of leather and cigar box. Rich red currants and graphite in the mouth. Expansive. A terrific Bordeaux with a long life ahead.

  • Double decanted an hour and a half before serving. Terrific old school claret here - black fruit, cedar, tobacco, greener herbal notes, and a more savoury earthy/graphite character all come together seamlessly on a medium weight frame. It's not a big wine, but there's remarkable intensity to the aromatics, and a striking palate presence with bright acids giving it a sense of lift and vibrancy. Lovely wine that still has years ahead - I'll hold my remaining bottles a while longer.

  • Delightful! Elegant perfume black raspberry on the front mellowing into notes of herb, leather, and melange of dark and red berries. Long finish.

  • Bob’s cellar. Deep dark purple red, no bricking. Fulsome nose of blackcurrant, lively acidity and bite. Flavours are warm and balanced, earthy forest floor, unsmoked cigar, grip and a this is an even and persistent exhibition of Bordeaux. Long lasting flavours - 30 seconds or more. Really good.
