Distinctly orange colour, head to rust; rather chunky, blunt nose, cheddar cheese rind; foursquare, sweet, fat, clumsy. Lacks any refinement, some power. Best drunk soon.

A fine Sauternes deep orange colour (a Sauternes is ready to drink when it turns from yellow to orange) and flavours of candied orange, apricot, and orange zest. $30 for the half bottle, so this is quite a treat.

Bibendum Bordeaux tasting (Lord's Cricket Ground - London): Honeyed tones, marmalade and great acidity. Good substance, however compared to the other Sauternes on show here, not quite as focused and maybe loses a bit of structure.
