Well….maybe a decant would have helped but we did not have the same jubilante Erfahrung that we had at Piccolo Mondo in Berlin. It mellowed after about 30 minutes but then tasted a bit oxidized. Next time, decant first then consume (duh!).

This is on the bigger spectrum of Barolo style more than likely from vintage. This is a much bigger wind than prior vintages, but it is more accessible and has big fruit flavors leaning more towards the black side but also big tannins that are manageable. This is not your classic Barolo but it is enjoyable and wine that you can drink now, but will probably round out with age. As a sidenote, I greatly prefer the 2017 which was more classic and more balanced.

Bright cherry/berry fruit with a touch of earth and strong but fine tannins. Straightforward and young (as expected).
