8th of 12, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, less substance but more refinement than 03 and 2000 on same night, beautiful balance and freshness of 01 and today showing greater complexity, well made as ever, limited upside, 12+ years. F+ (18)......others preferred the richer and sweeter palates of the 00 and 03 and, although I preferred 01 on the night, I suspect the other vintages are the better bet for the long haul, particularly the 2000.

Our last half bottle of a full case and a good decade of 90-91s come to an end. Definitely one to decant a little beyond that all set, classic well aged and albeit a touch austere and with that Pauillac firmness still a good wine.

Nice wine - classical Bdx with tertiary notes. Barnyard on the nose, disappears after a 4 hour decant. Then a classical nose and also fresh, fine notes on the palate, which is a little bit "thin" to get a better note. Medium finish. No chance against the Pape Clement 1990 which was its "partner" this evening, but nice wine in its sweet spot.

Very nice mature Bordeaux. Still full of fruit. Blackberry. Hedge row, nice old saddle leather. Good structure now softening and integrating well. Medium to long, medium complexity. Drink now and over the next 10 years.

(Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste) Vibrant nose of cassis, cherries, smoke, minerals and a touch of rubber. Sweet red fruits and a light raspberry element and great concentration. Chalky yet very well integrated tannins on the finish. Finish is a bit short but nonetheless a very enjoyable wine.
