  • From an excellent looking bottle with a 3.5 cm ullage, this wine looked its age. I was a touch worried about the color which almost was like a rose; it had a light red center with very pale red rims. However, the key was that there was no browning at the rim. The nose was lovely with cherries, roses, and wet rocks. Later on, the nose also developed some rhubarb and brown spices.

In the mouth, the wine was light and refined but firm with strong acidity. It showed pretty well right out of the gate but did get substantially better with two hours of air. Despite its light weight, the wine's finish was very, very long. Unfortunately, I think Allen (BH) had an off bottle. Impressive and, while there is no reason to wait, it will last for at least a few years!
