More like a middle aged Rhône wine than anything else. Smoky Saint emilion impressions from big oak barrel charr adds the possibility of a modern right bank Bordeaux. Really nice acidity is keeping things from coming unhinged, so I’m pretty comfortable with keeping a few of these around, but gone is the hope for an elegant Bordeaux. More like a non expressive, good old wine. Drink

Ok, boys are girls! This is my 3rd wine from Fombrauge and I'm sure it won't be last So far I had 2004(92 pts.) and 2005(97 pts.). Let's see what this juice can bring to my tongue and brain! 🕐⏰🕤 An hour in decanter and... explosion of cassis in smell! And I mean it. I could sniff it forever! What else? Coffee ( strong Italian one), red cherry ( nice counterbalance!), black cherry and minerals. Enough! Taste? No surprise. Load of blackberry, black currant, coffee, black chocolate ( so delicious), vanilla, cedar 12 year old wine, but fresh and juicy. Pretty long finish with soft spice, tannins and acidity. It's hard to find 'weakest link' in this juice. I think it's the best QPR Grand Cru Classé in Saint Emillion Year after year I paid 37.56 € for this vintage. Dark and dense color. Sweet fruit, blackcurrant, blackcurrant bush, vanilla and liquorice on the nose. Soft, fullbodied and generous, with some sweetness also in the mouth. The wine seems a bit extracted, but not annoyingly.

Very deep crimson-dark ruby with bricking flanks. Immediately attractive spicy nose with dried dark Christmas cake fruit and nicely done new oak. Very concentrated mouth with spicy Right Bank character and decent length. Fine, with ample time in hand.

Full body, saturated dark garnet color. Intense ripe black fruits aroma complemented by spices’ box and roasted coffee beans. Damsons’ plum, black currant and dark chocolate palate following by lingering juicy finish. Rich and bold, complex and well balanced, still fresh berries acidity and resolved but tangible tannins. Food friendly, well pairing to Chicken Casseroles. Serve 17ºC - 21ºC. Needs aeration, open one hour ahead. Drink now and next five/six years, perhaps longer.

Revisited after tasting in 2017. Dark ruby. Black fruits, damsons, blackberries dried fruits nose/palate. Medium, well integrated tannins. Well balanced, medium finish. Drinking well at present, doubt it will improve, but probably has a few more years enjoyable drinking time left ?4/5. 14.5% alcohol

Very dry still, shy on the nose with all that vanilla oak creme dominance. Still full of pomegranate pith, but its aging slowly and stubbornly but there's definitely a development of violets coming through. This will need about 5 more years to develop any aromatics and should score higher...It allows drinking with a long decant but should be better and better with time...Long life ahead. HOLD

First bottle from a case. A good standard issue red Bordeaux wine. Missing the character and complexity of the top chateaux, but well balanced, good fruit, good structure, an easy drinking wine suitable for most occasions.

Very pleasant St Emilion from the lovely 2010 vintage. Floral nose of violets. Good structure, reserved. Can do with a long decant (also due to considerable sediment). I’m sure this can age further and doesn’t appear to be at its peak—maybe still slightly closed? But still a very nice wine that we enjoyed with steak. Would get again at a decent price.

This was good with minimal air, but definitely decant for sediment. A very nice, well-rounded wine that everyone enjoyed with cheese and sausages. Nice balance of fruit and secondary notes. However, it lacked a bit in complexity and finish, so it just doesn't reach 90 for me.

This is an over extracted wine more in the style of a Napa red than a Bordeaux. It is creamy and fruit forward, though the fruit is muted at best. The mid-pallet has some notes of pepper and cedar with some oak and cassis. The finish is fleeting. For an 8 yo Bordeaux I would say it is in its prime with not much to look forward to. Drink it now or in the next year or so.

3 hour decant. Very dark body. Nose has green fig, apricot and cold clay. Integrated tannins and smooth texture. Palate has rich dark fruit, cocoa and spice. After an hour of drinking, it started to soften up too much for my liking. If I had another bottle of this, I would splash decant and pour and let it evolve over a drinking session.

Fantastic Bordeaux. Smooth. Dark, Rich and delicious. 2010’s are singing now. The vintage is spectacular. Maybe not a $250 bottle but for $28 I’d put against an $80 Napa Cab all day.

Needs at least 3 hours decant. This was austere, muted and boring on the first night. Second night (slow ox in bottle), this was showing MUCH better. Blackberry, cassis, graphite, white pepper, milk chocolate, dried fruit and lumber wood. Palate is tannic with little plushness or juiciness despite the merlot dominant blend but softens up to show pretty nicely on day two.

Decanting is a must right now. Right after the pop it was closed down with the medium heat finish leading the profile. Hours later the fruit has arrived along with softer tannins. A winner, though patience or planning is required.

Decanted two hours but needed a third to show its stuff. On the nose the wine shows dark cherry, tobacco, mocha, and molasses. On the palate we got deeper dark cherry, cola, oak, tobacco, and a bit of earth, with a spicy note of black pepper on the finish. Really nice structure with medium tannins and acidity. Beautifully balanced and delicious. And all this for a price point around just...wait for it...$40. We’ll get two more bottles to see how it further evolves after 5 and 10 years.

80M, 12CF, 8CS, 16m oak - 30%new. Very fruity, black cherries, oak is still a bit agressive, needs more time to integrate. Red berries - blackberries and strawberries on the palate as well as cherry jam. Tannins are soft already. With time it becomes more soft and friendly. A well made wine.

The intensity of this Right Bank Grand Cru is detected at first sight by the deep, brick red hue. The nose reveals enticing violets, kirsch liqueur, and rich chocolate. The merlot-driven palate stays true to the nose with sexy, bright red fruit. Not super-earthy, but this has rigid structure with quick-hitting attitude, gripping tannins, and satisfyingly warm acidity. The extra-long ganache, cranberry, red plum finish is the highlight. Great now, but this should get even better in a couple of years.

This is a medium bodied Bordeaux that exhibits less earth and more fruit than your typical French version. However, it is also somewhat less balanced and too tart. Nevertheless, a good wine.

Very modern style of Bordeaux, which I do not really care for but I can see why people enjoy it. Not overy structured and very approachable now. Good acid, and medium tannins that do not get in the way.
Dark berries and chocolate on the palate with a medium finish of toasted oak. Nothing overly complex.

Everything I expected! Modern, ripe, full bodied, chocolatey St.-Emilion. Could almost have been from Napa. Very tasty and easily drinkable/easy to appreciate. Ripe plum flavours mingle with the chocolatey oak and lots of cigar box/tobacco development already. Structure is soft and smooth. Intensity almost pronounced. Everyone loved it and enjoyed it more than the 2011 Brunello Tenuta Nuova from CDNeri. A testimony to it's international, soft style. Is it a negative?
2-hour decant; mid/full bodied, plush tannins, fruit-forward, young Bdx that leads with some oak and Cab Franc tartness - better with food at the moment. This will develop into something more interesting in a few years.

Drank over two days. This wine needs to breathe, both to blow off oak elements, and to add weight and depth. Once it breathes deeply, it comes alive, showing impressive balance of flowers, fruit, sanguinity, and mineral depth. Great balance, generous mouthfeel, and quite long. A very young wine that needs three to five years from now to come into its own and it should deliver pleasure through 2028-2030. Decant for 5+ hours if drinking now. Great QPR! 92-93.

Deep ruby color turning violet at the rim with a thin transparent edge. The bouquet is profusely perfumed with potpourri, dried meat, red and dark berries, and scorched cedar. The palate is full-bodied, light on its feet with an attractive gripping texture coming from the wood. Flavors of red cherry, raspberry, red licorice, smoke, cowhide leather, clove, and black peppercorns. Balanced, meaty, sumptuous. Drink now until 2025. 92+
The Cabernet Franc and Merlot added a nice soft touch to this inky purple wine that really softened with standing. Whilst this was a very nice wine, at $60 a bottle I could find much better in Australia for the same price.

I agree with other tasters that this is very young. Good nose of dark fruits, currant and chocolate. Huge gripping tannins on the tongue with a medium finish. The potential is there for this wine to be an easy few points higher. I will try again in at least 3-5 years.
Very young at this point. Needed at least 2 hours of breathing to start showing its potential. Likely to be very good in a few years; only time will tell.

I have not looked at my previous note, but this bottle is a big thick, killer, age worthy, Nuvo French wine that is a staggering value for the 30 dollars. Its bright, tense, but accessible with a profile of pomegranate pith, sour cherries and cocoa. Its already developing good hints of coffee and the finish is long and dry...This is going places. Love the values and quality out of St. Emillon on these great vintage years of 09 and 10...
Drank at restaurant in Baltimore, big wine, good acid and fruit, drank with rock bass, enjoyed the wine , would drink again, $47 at store in restaurant with $8 corkage. Will improve with age.

A powerful wine with lots of stuffing in the form of black and boysenberries. The sweetness is cloaked and counterbalanced with good acid, crafting a solid backboned wine that is good now, but built for aging. A lot going on inside but still too wild and strong to pick through. I could see this gaining finesse and blooming into a gem in 7 years with a much longer life ahead.

From a 375ml. Pnp, initial impressions tanic and restrained, did not let up in the hour or so that I drank this wine. For a wine with 80% Merlot it felt harsh. Clearly it needs a lot more time in the cellar and may well improve a lot because it does have the structure to mature, at this stage I did not enjoy it, I only drank 1/2 a bottle of the 375ML.~85 pts.

Chocolate covered cherries, coffee and licorice sticks create the aromatics. Round, sweet and oaky, give this a few years in the cellar to allow the wood to better integrate. 90

2010 Bordeaux En Primeur; 4/3/2011-4/4/2011 (Bordeaux): Very similar to the Magrez Fombrouge but not as sexy as some would like to describe, ripe fruit expression, silky palate and noticeable tannins. This and the Magrez Fombrouge are the only two wines with noticeable tannins amongst the Magrez Bordeaux portfolio. 90-92 pts
Minerals, coffee, cassis and spice aromas open to a medium bodied wine, elegant textures and a dark berry, cassis and fennel finish that was slightly marred by a hint of tartness. 89-91 Pts

Similar to previous bottles, a little light on the aromatics though. Still one of my favorites from the '10 vintage.

Great QPR! 92-93.

Thick, inky, deep purple with sour cherry and cocoa notes. Will benefit with more time but getting close to its window.

very good wine, poured only 15-20 minutes before drinking and very approachable. For $30-$35 hard to beat the quality especially for 2010 vintage

One of my sleepers of the vintage. I really love the savory earthy aromatics. Love the firmness, structure and dryness. Still so young. Getting more at $28/bottle...wow!

Good QPR, albeit a little young. Excellent, firm tannic structure, a little weak on depth, but a thoroughly enjoyable bottle all the same. Would buy again and cellar for at least ten years.

Chocolate covered cherries, coffee and licorice sticks create the aromatics. Round, sweet and oaky, give this a few years in the cellar to allow the wood to better integrate. 90

A good wine – pretty, sweet, dense and round in style. Showing some tannin, definitely has power for the future. Will be very good. A little bit of spice to go with the sweet fruit and decent acidity present. Good for the rounded style. 92-93
