Beautiful. Nose shows slight mintiness, sea spray, light white and yellow flowers, mineral and maybe a little honeysuckle. Very fresh and elegant on the palate.

Medium intensity on the nose, it has a really creamy note in there from the malolactic process besides that I also smell some stone fruit and citrus fruit think of peach, grapefruit & nectarines, there are also some floral notes which really complement the nose
Dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, medium intensity, medium lasting after taste, the palate is beautiful a lot of the same which you also have in the nose but now I also noticed some tertiary tastes which come to mind as ginger like incredible wine would definitely drink again.

Blind. Initial impression was classy SA Chenin. A touch of lanolin and wax, nicely mineral, grippy, textural quality to the attack, maybe a hint of apple, but really just a mineral, mouth filling texture without Rhone weight. Apparently not. Might be Bordeaux se million, but having ‘established’ at the off that the one thing it couldn’t be was Chardonnay, and having been told it was french, there wasn’t really anywhere to go. A clean and lithe Jura savaging perhaps? Oops. Though vintage and producer does help mitigate some less than desirable guesswork. It does open with further air to suggest Chardonnay, albeit flavourful and not hugely alcoholic, but that sweet, ripe character of the vintage balanced by grippy structure does start to show. This is very impressive for BB, even if initially a little disguised, and a great advert for blind tasting. ****

Fantastic for a wine at this level. This bottle showed some age, with some almonds and almond skin to balance the delicate citrus and white flowers. Lacked depth in the mid-palate, otherwise score would have been higher. P&P, drank over two nights. Very enjoyable, got my attention from the first sip.

[Restaurant purchase] At Wijn bij Stijn, Den Bosch NL. No detailed notes, I forgot I had their Meursault last year (which I didn’t care too much for). I saw this at a ‘reasonable’ price (knowing secondary market, still quite steep for a Bourgogne Blanc). Full bodied, white flowers, white peach, ripe apple, elegant oak. Medium+ acidity, medium finish. Good, certainly, for a BB, but not exceptional imho

I was a little nervous about this bottle. Upon removing the capsule, I noticed there was a small amount of seepage. Fortunately, there were no issues with the wine.
Delicate, pretty aromas (more intense on day 2) of apple and apple skin, lemon verbena, vanilla and flint. The flavors are well-defined. On the palate there is energetic acid and a long, lingering finish. This was a lovely way to start off the meal.
Yes, this drinks above the regional appellation, but I still find it a bit dear for what it is. I figured I was paying for the name, so, no regrets. I will only buy it again if I can find it at a deep discount.

Siggy's Annual BBQ (Chez Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN): Small pour. Forgot I'd had this a year ago. Looking at my note from then, it hits all those marks again. This punches way above its weight as always. Excellent slate minerality, well defines and classic. Damn this is good.

This was an interesting Burgundy filled with contrast! It was both smooth and acidic at the same time...a unique experience for me. This was, IMO, a much more intellectual wine that you enjoyed while trying to piece together the puzzle.
Nose: Lemon, seashell and stone fruit dominated with hints of white flower and flint
Palate: Showed a contrast of smoothness and acidity that is hard to accurately describe. Pear, tart apple, oyster shell and flint, but then turning to tropical fruit and citrus, with quite a bit of minerality.
This wine was a delight to drink, and really was a unique experience, although the 2016 Roulot alongside was more in my wheelhouse as far as flavor profile. 92 points for uniqueness and pleasure!

Normally I’d be embarrassed to pay $50 (USD) for a “generic” bottle of Bourgogne Blanc, but after seeing the producer….one of the most famous makers of white Burgundy in the Cote D’Or, it was an easy decision! Approachable, clean, and impressive…just enough oak to add complexity, allowing the pure white fruits to shine through. Well balanced with oak, fruit, and acids in balance. Medium finish. Given the “entry level” nature of the offering and the already integrated nature of this wine, I would recommend to drink by 2024.

Same btl as rocknroller. I'm not sure I've ever had the Bourgogne Blanc from Leroy? I was smitten tonight. My still white of the night. That said, at $80+ for Bourgogne this should be a head turner. This was the most balanced wine of any color tonight. Love its weightless finesse and unexpected sense of richness untethered by neither oak nor weight.

BurgFest at The Kenwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Wow, this has great body and depth,; no way you'd ever peg this as Bourgogne blind. Hitting well above its level, this is full bodied, layered, white blossoms, very floral, lots of orchard fruti and slaty minerality. Loved it.

The product of the doyen of so many great Burgundies - Madame Lalou Bize-LeRoy - (Romanee Conti etc.), this wine is wonderful - delivering well above its price point. Beautiful rounded tropical fruit flavors developing alongside a delightful line of gentle acidity.

Just recently collected from Hart Davis Hart in Chicago, I could not resist trying this "humble" bourgogne blanc from a storied producer. Here is proof that there is always more to know about a burgundy than just the name of the wine. Many are the bourgogne village wines that fail to sparkle and then there is this. You first notice it on the nose, which is quite effulgent - lovely floral, oaky notes. And then on the palate it is bracing and quite intense with tart citrus, minerality, great length. Oh I need more of this. Can I believe my good fortune that I paid a mere $41.65 for the pleasure?

Disappointed for the value. Drinking more like a $25-$30 bottle rather than a $60 bottle. New world in bouquet and palate. Very tropical, one note, heavy, fat without the tension or finesse you would expect from better wines from this producer. Not overly complaining given the Bourgogne level of quality. However, would wait another year to see if comes together better. But best to be consumed in the next 2-5 years.

HDH Burgundy Auction; 5/17/2019-5/18/2019 (Chicago, IL): A bit high-toned and tropical, with some exotic notes that are probably more at home in Teutonic grapes than chardonnay. Quite ripe, and fairly large-scaled, with a fatness that belies the designation. Moderate freshness and pleasant enough now, but not one I'd be keen on keeping around for a long time.

This wine is oh so stylishly and mysteriously elegant. From its glistening golden colour with the faintest tinge of amber, to its intricate nose hinting of honeysuckle, wafting in romance...to its ethereal lightness and yet bright freshness on the palette, to its suggestion of cool steel in its structure, to the slightly saline finish...and then on to the lingering taste of snow pears thereafter. Everything in this wine was harmoniously singing a lovely soothing song. There was no single jarring element or feature and it was certainly a very difficult task to single out any individual smell or taste profile - such was the skill of the maker’s hand and the testimony of alchemy. This wine is like a fine and beautiful lady exuding in elegance and style. I loved it!
