From memory, second and last bottle similar to the first of a few years ago. I don't drink enough Bordeaux to comment on the relative quality, but the grape varieties seem authentic and identifiable to me, and the wine was enjoyable and appropos our lamb chops.

Very strong capsicum notes with dry earthy texture. Notes of smoky wood, hints of onion in aroma. Small amount of pleasant but very dry tannins in mouthfeel. Long, soft pleasant persistent finish.

Smelled like smokey leather as I decanted it. The colour is full dark ruby at the core with slight garnetting at the rim. In the glass there are aromas of dusty dried cherry and mulberry, leather, slight bell pepper, cedar and a trace of merde. On the palate it is very, very dry with a certain astringency and flavours of dried red berries, more bell pepper, stalkiness and merde on the finish. The tannins are still a bit unresolved. And overall it seems a bit dried out and sorely in need of some food to mellow it out.

Very dark colour. Ripe, polished cherry, kirsch, vanilla, mocha, with plush, well-integrated tannins. Long finish; nary a green note. Don't think it will improve.

Had this one last in the fall as part of my comprehensive vertical tasting through every vintage of the wine. Full garnet red with a thin transparent, almost watery, rim. Dusty and leathery red and black fruits on the nose, mostly mulberry, with notes of mulch and very slight licorice. Smooth with good acidity but very dry with black tea tannins still hanging on for dear life. Not as much fruit on the palate as the nose. Feels a bit dried out. Fruit flavours are dried out tart mulberry and cranberry. Medium bodied. The tannins are in control at this point. Definitely a red meat food wine - not a sipper. Probably in decline now so I would drink up.

Poor showing. Musty, muddy fruit that opened up a smidge overnight but never got far enough to overcome the bitter finish. I'm amazed to see 1200 bottles still in cellars. Would not continue to hold these.

Served blind, dominantly cherry and tertiary notes enveloped this balanced and pleasant red. Once revealed, was pleasantly surprised at this Canadian wine still holding on to the fruit. Haven’t been a fan of Osoyoos Larose’s offerings but this was one of there better efforts. Drink by 2025.

Cork broke in half on extraction but was salvageable. Black fig flesh red grading to garnet at the rim. Medium bodied. Nice and clear. Good legs. Initial nose from the decanter of dried fruity red leather. In the glass it is nicely mature. Leather, some old cedar, leaf mulch, dried red fruits - strawberry, cranberry, red plum. Slight lifted menthol note at the end. No greenness. Later on it develops some charcoal and road tar notes. Palate is cool and fresh for its age. More dried red fruits and cedar. (Perhaps it saw a bit too much oak?) Smooth but very dry. A bit tart and astringent on the finish. A bit lacking in fruit flavour and texture overall. More interesting than enjoyable. Past its prime now. Drink up.

"Over rated" on a trouvé!

For me, it's good to go. An overall lighter mouthfeel, which may be due to the higher proportion of merlot. Tannins are resolving, with that grippiness still present. Alcohol slightly noticeable, but overall, the purity of fruit still prevails-- cab franc and maybe even the malbec? is noticeable, but retains that cab/merlot core. Definitely a bit New(er) World Bordeaux blend, but a nice right-bank-ish companion with beef dishes. For the ~$35 I paid back in the day, definitely delivers a resounding success.

Deep garnet. Dark fruit nose of blackberry, tar, graphite. The palate is ripe, beuatifully balanced fruit/acid/tannins, red and black stone fruit, some spicy dark dirt. The finish is medium tannic and long, very cleansing. Overall this wine tastes like a ripe traditional merlot/CS Bordeaux, otherwise I don't have any comparable experience.

Smooth yes, jammy, well it had lost some of that by this time. Still, with a slice of juicy prime rib, this wine was perfect. I wish we had drunk it earlier as the sugars have started disapearing.

Not especially noteworthy; in between new and old world in styles. Will provocative, secondary flavors emerge five-ten years hence? I'll never know, but it's possible. If I had another I'd wait five years and try again. At this point in time completely drinkable, but lousy QPR.

Clear dark purple in colour. Clean nose of Black currant and spice. Dry, med body, med body, black fruit, spice, and earth on palate. Quite short finish. Nice wine. Still has year left on it, but drinking well right now. Shows how well BC wines can age. Nose was amazing, mid palate was a little light, and the finish was short. But at 11 years of age it drinks nice.

Black fruit on the nose, but ripe red fruit on the palate along with black olives and something closer to ash than earth. It has matured in a way that's neither precisely old world nor new, as it's pulled in two directions at once--Canadian fruit, French ambitions. Awkwardly so to my palate, but this is only it's 4th vintage, I believe. I'll support the 2017 drink-by date.

Very rich, nose of black currants and leather. The palate starts on concentrated black fruits, but then the still fairly tight tannins expand creating a massive mouthfeel filled with cedar box, pepper and a touch of green stalks. This is a wine you eat. Some age will hopefully mellow it out.

13.5% - Hazy, deep garnet / clean, pronounced intensity - black berries, bramble, green bell pepper, torrefied coffee, some spice / dry, med acidity, med to high body, high dusty tannin, med+ intensity, med to long length. Very similar to last bottle as the green bell pepper settled down with some time and air.

Popped and poured. Coming around quite nicely. The color gives away some of it's age with the beginnings of bricking coming through. The nose had elements of pencil lead and hot asphalt after a quick rain shower. Flavors were surprisingly fruity with notes of raspberry and boysenberry. Still a good amount of tannin structure and balanced acid. Interested to see where this one goes over the next few years. Would purchase again.

Very dark in the glass, with maybe just a hint of purple, the nose on this is boysenberry and blackberry, with a heavy vegetal component. It seems like it must be heavily Cab franc, but in fact, the blend is 67% Merlot, 23% Cab Sauv, 4% Petit Verdot, 4% Cab Franc, 2% Malbec. On the palate, the greenness is almost completely overwhelming, with loads of green pepper and jalapeño completely overwhelming the little bit of plum and blackberry that remain. There isn't even a vague hint of sweetness to balance the astringency. The mid-palate is a little thin, and the finish is relatively long, which would be an asset if it were in balance...which it isn't. The winery website says it was meant to age 8-10 years, so we should be right in the prime drinking window here. The wine isn't completely devoid of complexity, but really it just is not good, and doesn't improve with air, either. The remainder of this bottle is going into a red sauce or a braise. I can't drink the rest. This is a pass at pretty much any price and certainly doesn't live up to the $40 CT average value.

Tasted together with 2001 and 2003 vintages. This was the ripest of the three vintages and fuller in every aspect. Dark red fruit, cassis, blackberry, chocolate, just a touch of cedar and a hint of bell pepper. A nice mineral note. Long finish. Still in the fruit phase. Try again in three years.

Much better than the last bottle I had of this wine. Perhaps the last bottle was a little off. We had this with tourtière just after christmas, it was a great match. The wine was aromatic on opening, but muted after about 30 minutes in the decanter. It was like a nice Boudreaux, some fruit and mineral with a long finish. I have a few more in the cellar.

Nose is full of ripe plums and blackberries, with just a hint of cedar. The palate is very rich in dark fruits, with tobacco and cedar in the mid-palate. The whole is finished off with relatively firm tannins but also a good amount of acidity. This easily passed as a serious Bordeaux, even confounding some into thinking it was mostly CS! Will continue to improve in the coming years!

When first opened and tasted I thought it was a candidate for the vinegar bottle. Put the cork back in and gave it a couple of hours with some air. The wine came around. Dark purple colour with no sign of bricking. Aromas of leather. Medium body with a reasonably long finish. A correct wine but not one that I think will get any better.

Heard from a Canadien that Osayoos was not aging well - so opened one of my two. Nice deep color, black fruits and mocha on the nose, but no depth in the mid-palate, and some mint on the relatively acidic finish. Overall, not impressed.

Popped and poured. Could have used a bit of time in a decanter, but none available. Nose had tons of green peppercorns and a resinous cooked fruit component. More green spice on the palate. Tannin and acid levels were on the elevated side, but paired nicely with food. After being opened a day the nose took on a very sour note that didn't play nicely. Suggest to consume the bottle in one sitting. Would purchase again.

Rich dark color, vanilla, red berries, chocolate and cigar. Decanted for 2 hours. I had the privilege of a private tasting at Osoyoos Larose with the assistant wine maker & vineyard manager Catharine Scott-Taggart. We tasted the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 Le Grande Vin and the 2007 Petales d'Osoyoos. The 2004 was spectacular, well balanced with an outstanding finish. The 03 was better than the 05 which needs a few more years in the cellar then will be amazing. The 06 is 2 to 3 years away from drinking but I am sure will be outstanding. The wines need to be decanted for a couple of hours.

Cigar box, tobacco, smokey... quite a unified theme, but I enjoyed the nose. The imbalance in the mouth was disappointing. Tannins and acidity not offset by fruit or anything else... that is not to say there was nothing going on in this wine, just not enough. Peppery spiceyness, faint red fruit, smoke, but also some very vegetal and unripe qualities which, coupled with the tannins and acidity, overwhelmed.

Too vegetal (esp. green pepper) to be much more than a curiosity. On second day it held on but did not improve. Definitely Bordeaux in style, not unenjoyable, and well made given the limitations of place, but definitely not worth $30. (Admittedly, Garagiste claims it is currently in an "angular" place, but it is hard to see the pronounced vegetal flavors going away.)

Verticals of BC wines - Burrowing Owl Cab Sauv, Black Hills Nota Bene, Osoyoos Larsose Grand Vin (Sharon & Guy's): Clear dark garnet core of moderate intensity out to a thin ruby edge and thin watery rim - youthful. Clean but closed nose giving up little in the way of fruit or really anything. With a lot of work the fruit is there hiding under the leather and smoke. Dry on the palate with soft fruit on the initial attack with leather and tea immediately thereafter, closing down the flavours - mod- intensity. Moderate+ tannin and acid with moderate body and alcohol. Very dense on the palate but giving up little. The finish is moderate and a bit drying. Tight even after 9 hours decanting. Still, I would say this is well balanced and will develop well. Give it at least 8 years.

Very good, and very 'Bordeaux' in it's approach for sure (St. Emilion comes to mind) - Dark, medium/full bodied, a nose of black fruit, plum, coffee, spicebox and vanilla, nicely structured and balanced, silky smooth on the finish with nice length, may be better in a few years time (89 Points).

Once this wine had some time to open up, it had all of the characteristics of a good quality Cru Bourgeois. This is a blend of 67% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cab Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec. The cooler climate and shorter growing season is certainly reflected in the character of this wine. It's not overly ripe, has good minerality and a dry finish. Certainly one of the better red wines I've had from Canada.

I don't know what's up with the 05 OL. It really needs it's breathing room to emerge, which I don't recall it needing when I first had it about a year ago. This was flat and muted when we first opened it. No one really liked it. But as the meal went on, it really started to open up and it became the wine people kept coming back to because it was so intriguing and fun to smell and contemplate. A really great wine, but I have a funny feeling it's in a bit of a shut down mode right now, which is why it's taking so long to open. I would say this needed 3 hours to really come around.

Built for relatively early drinking, the 2005 blend is primarily Merlot. Dense, sweet, with bitter dark chocolate and scortched earth notes on the finish. I picked up a spike of citrus in the mid-palate which I found quite interesting...

This was quite unlike Osoyoos Larose I have had in the past. Less Bordeaux in style and more fruit forward. Though dominated by Merlot similar to the Oculus, this wine has much darker (e.g., currents, blackberries) aromas. It reminded me of the 'darker' side of Merlot that Duckhorn is able to bring out of their wines. A really enjoyable wine to drink and something different from the typical (but very quaffable) Okanagan merlots. This is drinking very well at the moment, with light tannins that coat the teeth.

Drink up.

Good but far from ready. Will be interesting to see it 5 years or so.

Nice claret in a modern package. Well done slickness. Has a nice presence and complexity.

EXCELLENT!

This is a very good wine. Very dark. Forward nose of blackberries and chocolate. Fruit driven at this point, but well structured and balanced. Tasted over three days and kept getting better in the bottle. Try again in three years but I think it will go much longer.

No formal notes but I thought I was drinking the Petales and was very pleasantly surprised. A full bodied wine but with a feminine side to it. Still good on day 2. Lots of aging potential.

Tasted blind – Deep ruby, clear. Notes of black currant, vegetal, fresh tobacco, black cherries. Medium body, medium to high tannin, high acidity, medium finish. Just a tad hollow on the mid palate. Potential is there. Needs time. Good. 87+
