Really stellar showing. Stored offsite since release. Color was dark with rim that started to clear but no bricking. Wine was nearly perfect and at 14 years there's no reason to wait. Still a bit of tannin, cocoa dark fruit, alcohol in check. Lovely.

Deep garnet. Nose of a more mellow version of Pride Reserve of 10 years ago. Berries, tobacco, anise. Taste big, more mellow, berries, hint of tobacco, finish with licorice. Quite good.

Silky smooth; liquid black velvet. The tannins are well integrated and the flavors are seamless from the black juicy fruit, to the cocoa, to the black pepper, to a little cedar forest and a delightful finish.
Don't see this improving, drink up over the next couple of years..

Not decanted, berries and cedar nose, rich palate with ample fruit and silky resolves tannins. Took about 90 minutes to fully open but singing after that. Long finish. Agree a long decant is optimal. Drink now but could hold 5+ years as it will likely improve.

90 minute slow ox: medium bodied, rich and elegant, blueberry, cherry, forest floor, sweet and smooth tannins. This is a solid 96, and a pleasure to drink. Again, I'm finding the 07s to have held up well.

PnP and followed for several hours. Took a good two hours to really kick in. Red cherry, cassis, blackberry, smoke, menthol, a little dried fruit, aged oak, earth, and a bit of strawberry on the nose. Blackberries, red cherries, cassis, dried cherries, earth, herbs, and a little dark chocolate on the palate. Nice acidity, integrated though still present tannins, long delicious finish. Wow, this was great. This bottle had a lot more tertiary notes than I was expecting, which added to the complexity, but it's still deliciously fruity. Was still great over the next few days.

Purchased from the winery during a 2010 trip. Pop and pour. Opaque. Very aromatic with lavender, blueberry pie, and forest floor notes. I can smell the wine as I am walking around the house with the glass. Palate is velvety with dark chocolate and blackberries. Finish reminds me of Hershey's chocolate syrup. Best 2007 Napa/Sonoma cab I can remember. Sadly only bought 2 bottles and this was my last.
Edit: 2nd best to the 2007 Spotteswoode I had several years ago.

With Gary and Danielle at ITA101 in Medford, NJ...great BYO place. Last bottle purchased at auction about 8 years ago. About a 30 minute decant at the restaurant, drank over an hour. May benefit from a longer decant if venue allows
Wine still had a geep ruby/purple core, no real signs of age. Nose was jumping out of the glass when poured, blackberry liqueur, cassis and oak. Ripe palate showing a great vintage for mountain fruit - black cherry, licorice, violets, mocha and vanilla oak. Rich flavors through the mid and back palate, full body and long finish.
What was most striking is how youthful the wine still is - it seems to be evolving very slowly. At 11 years in this is still a baby..well stored bottles could go 15-20 years more(?). Really well made, great representation of the vintage and Spring Mountain fruit. Sadly, last bottle from this purchase, may be back in the auction market looking for more

Decanted for 1.5 hours before enjoying. It is a great companion for a home made mushroom risotto and halibut. Deep purple color. The nose is a combination of dark fruit, blackberries, plums, vanilla and a hint of wood. In the palate this wine was very smooth with nice tannins that will allow for nice aging. Long finish. This wine is drinking beautifully and can probably do so for a few more years.

At Nomad in Princeton with Wendy and Joe. Decanted for abot 45 minutes prior to leaving a re-bottled - open for about 90 minutes prior to drinking. Last tasting of this wine was about 3 years ago.
From prior notes: "Deep garnet color...this is a big wine, stylistically its fruit forward higher alcohol, concentrated cab. Jammy fruits, blueberry/blackberry, coffee, vanilla on the nose...Lush, full bodied mouthfeel...sweetness mid palate with mocha and vanilla in the mix."
Wine is in a very good spot, softened and matured since last tasting. Secondary characteristics showing nicely. Decant makes a big difference, wine was considerably more open after an hour.

Decanted for 30mins…could use a few hours, but I was thirsty! This is a GORGEOUS Pride Mtn! Inky blackberry color…incredible nose of mocha truffles, liqueured berries, licorice, tobacco, creme de cassis. Mouthful of silky smooth goooooodness! Rich and extracted, but not too sweet…..the perfect amount of ripe Calif fruit, with complexities of warm chocolate brownies, dried tobacco, tarragon, double espresso, tar……..the rich fruit is balanced super well, keeping the sweetness at a level I like in these big cabs….graphite powder, spicy cedar woods tannins….giving a good grip and dryness. Plenty of stuffing and solid structure here for many decades of pleasure….the hard part is not having enough!

Pride Mountain 11-Vintage Vertical Dinner (Singapore): Dark ruby, purple core. Reductive nose of pine forest, cedar, eucalyptus, dark fruit, black tea. Young and brooding on the palate with great structure, freshness and aromas. Will age for a long time. On e of my preferred wines of this vertical. Great!

Second Sunday Group: 2007 California Cabs/blends (R&D's): Notes of black currants, blackberry, red berry and clay. Flavors of chocolate and black fruit with a long finish. Tannins have a chalky texture. Develops a nice sous bois quality, and the fruit turns slightly raisiny. Dense, chewy tannins. A little ripe & chewy.

Drank over three days. Coarse on day one. Day two showed some mellowing but still it was tannic and gritty. On to day three. The nose shows dark chocolate, black licorice, oak and blackberries. The palate is right in my wheelhouse with bright upfront red fruits with beautiful acidity but some darkness in the back of the mouth reminiscent of plums. I really like pride reserves.

Simply unremarkable. The nose was tight and gave off a volatile alcohol burn with little else to it. The wine itself was fruit forward, with a mild undercurrent cocoa. The high (15%) alcohol content was tamed and balanced with the tannins. There is little to speak of in terms of secondary flavors or aromas. For a "big" wine, I expected it to have more to it. Really, though, what you get is a balanced, fruit forward wine that lacks complexity and offers nothing truly interesting.

Dinner with Beth and Dave at our house, drank this next to a 05 Roy Estate with the main course.
Pride, in my experience, never dissapoints. Deep garnet color, decanted for about 30 minutes - would do better with a longer decant. This is a big wine, stylistically its fruit forward higher alcohol, concentrated cab. Jammy fruits, blueberry/blackberry, coffee, vanilla on the nose.
Lush, full bodied mouthfeel. Tannins are softening, still very youthful. The mountain fruit is evident, a ripeness along with the blue/black fruits. A sweetness mid palate with mocha and vanilla in the mix.
All in a great wine if you like the style. Drinking well now, but will continue to improve

Licorice, jam, blueberry, blackberry, vanilla and coffee scents pop the moment the cork leaves the bottle, Thick, concentrated, ripe and alcoholic, there is a touch of heat in the powerful, concentrated, forward styled, alcoholic, fruit filled finish. This style of wine is losing popularity with some drinkers. Fans of this style are going to like it a more than I did. I get he quality, but it's not fun for me to drink.

Popped, poured and consumed over the course of four hours. Very youthful appearance. Notes of jammy black fruits, licorice and vanilla. Full-bodied, very lush and oupulent on the palate, with ripe and round tannins, soft texture, and heady alcohol on the finish. A bit primary for my taste, and lacking a bit in terms of focus and depth. A nice enough wine, but not really my style.

decanted. god, it's been so long since i've had a pride reserve cab, it was like jumping in the wayback machine. can't say i enjoyed the trip. steel girder backbone, and fruit that is over extracted to my taste. it has value for the fan of that super powerful spring mountain fruit ethos, but isn't that just so 2001? i've moved on.

Lugeresque 2011 (Peter Pratt's Inn): Bonus wine time! As if it wasn't generous enough that Keith opened the 07 Maybach and SQN 17th nail in my Cranium, he goes to the car and pulls this bad boy out. Dammit I love Pride Reserve Cab!! This vintage seems very floral to me, more so than any past. I think it's a good thing, as I fully enjoyed this wine and was very impressed with it's depth and the amount of fruit it carried. Delicious with a long, long finish.

CALICAB #1. From 750ml bottle. Tasted blind. Jammy, ripe, with toasty oak and full of blackberries and licorice. Full midpalate with substantial tannins that are so ripe they are not obtrusive at all. The finish is long and the alcohol is completely in check. It needs to absorb its wood more, but it is a sexy, delicious wine that is not for the shy of spirit.
CALICAB #1. De botella de 750ml. Probado a ciegas.

Surprisingly approachable for an '07 Cab--wonder if this has to do with the change in winemakers? Plenty of that rich, dark fruit, along with overtones of cedar. I noticed a touch of alcohol on the nose as well. The palate shows fine tannins that, in my opinion, aren't going to make this a super-long ager (I'd guess 10-15 years). Long finish that shows a bit of astringency. (PE: 90)

Double decanted and didn't entirely come together until 48+ hours later... Dense, savory, and amazing. Rich fruit with cedar and vanilla on the nose. Pure and focused creme de cassis, dark chocolate, toasty vanilla, and some subtle herbs and mineral in the background leading into the finish. Excellent mouthfeel, good acidic backbone, sweet fine tannins, and a long finish. This has all of the tools and is actually worth the $$$.

Great!

Full-bodied, rich ripe fruit that drips of red and black fruit, licorice, sweet tobacco, and cassis. Mouthfeel is lovely.

Decanted for 1 hour, then drank over next 3 hours. Dense wine with a red fruit bowl look and nose, drank smooth. Everyone loves Pride. Can enjoy now but will last for awhile.

Wonderfully expressive and vibrant. Still quite youthful but starting to shed some of its baby fat. Tannins well integrated. A wonderful wine with a bright future.

Decanted for an hour with steaks at Flemings. A bit tight at first but opened up toward the bottom half. Very well-made, structured cab with ample blue fruit and cassis. Nice finish with espresso, graphite and toast.

Blind tasting. Nose is redder than I normally gravitate towards. Balanced well, finishes strong.

Hot buttered popcorn, black fruits and oak on the nose. Midpalate nicely concentrated. Finish repeats the black fruits and oak. Delicious.

Awesome wine. I guess I'm just old school 2001 as Jeff referenced. Big, but mellow after sipping for 3 hours. Love it.

Decanted twice and served. Deep garnet in color with nose of red ripe fruit, mocha, and graham cracker. Palate impressive as it completely enveloped the palate with layers of flavor. Long impressive finish.

decanted. god, it's been so long since i've had a pride reserve cab, it was like jumping in the wayback machine. can't say i enjoyed the trip. steel girder backbone, and fruit that is over extracted to my taste. it has value for the fan of that super powerful spring mountain fruit ethos, but isn't that just so 2001? i've moved on.
