  • Bordeaux GCC 2019 horizontal tasting, wine #6. 2nd growth, made from a blend of 65% CS and 35% Merlot. Age of vines 45 years, fermented in stainless vats, aged for 18 months in oak, 55% new. Pronounced dense aroma of cassis, green herbs, spices, smoky cedar, tobacco, hints of coffee and potpourri. Medium+ body, dense and muscular with velvety and seamless texture, rich multilayered black fruit flavours intertwined with smoky, spiced and potpourri touches, long and lasting with medium+ cashmere textured tannins.

  • The 2019 Cos d'Estournel emerges after only a few minutes in the glass, Falstaffian - jolly and round, brimming with grape preserves, plum, pomegranate, freshened by a graphite mineral edge. As round as this is in the mouth, its acidity maintains an enticing drinkability. I don't think this will take particularly long to drink with pleasure, but its symmetry and stuffing should also allow for a long life. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, labeled at 13.5% ABV. 95-96 points

  • Beautiful fruit black fruits, very aromatic, yet somehow not overdone and very approachable today. Tannins are polished and fully coat the mouth, quite grippy at this stage, expect it will get even better with some time in the bottle.

  • -- decanted 1.5 hrs before initial taste --
    -- tasted non-blind over 1.5 hrs. --

    NOSE: expressive; red licorice; florals.

    BODY: garnet-violet color of medium-deep to deep depth. {forgot to note weight}

    TASTE: smoky; oaky; on the bigger side; gently spicy; fine tannins; 13.5% alc. I could see this appealing to Napa Cab. lovers. Needs some time. Hold.
