At first I was concerned to open this, thinking it's still young and tannic. I gave it a bottle decant for 2 hours. It turned out really solid. By the time we had this (probably 4th hour), the heat and tannins were dissipated. The palate was well balanced, especially the acidity which I was concerned about. The nose was lighter than expected. Overall this is a solid Bordeaux. Had this with the Rauzan Segla and would definitely purchase both again for wines at this price point.
The 2016 Léoville Poyferré hasn't budged much in the 5 years since I last tasted it, not that that's a problem. This is quiet on the nose but beautifully expansive in the mouth, full of blueberry and blackberry, a mineral salinity, and a touch of potpourri.
Both primary and drinking well, this is a beautiful wine. With time in the glass, this went from pure fruit to some hints of what is to come, while exhibiting an elegance and creaminess that suggests there is much more to come.

Good fruit and big tannins. Too early. Try next 5-10 years
