  • Nice Pomerol nose. Drinking younger than the vintage. Iron elements coming through on the palette. Pomerol is also very clear on the palette. Not bad.
*2nd night. Rescored. Drinking amazing! Cherries, age and all around well rounded and pleasantly balanced. Bordeaux characteristics Right and Left.
*3rd night climbed downward. Second night was specatular.

  • Seems to be good for an older vintage. On a downside slope of course. Cork slipped in like butter. With air, the wine has gotten stronger and more pronounced.
*Last night open reflections, Pomerol nose, bottle somewhat maderized and port-like. Pomerol does come through on the palette though time has given an the entropic note.

  • I did not have high expectations for this wine. High shoulder fill, cork in quite good condition after 50 years.
Undoubtedly this wine peaked at least 5-10 years ago. However, there was just enough structure left to hold it together. The textbook "cigar box" aroma alone made it a treat. Where do you find that nowadays? Tannins were obviously melted but the wine was still holding together in the glass and over a two hour dinner. Earthy, tobacco, prune reduction

  • It's always fun tasting older Pomerol, even when it's on the austere side. Still, there was enough plum, tobacco and forest floor to make this old school expression interesting. However, it's not a wine to age any further.
