A superb chardonnay, classy, complex and full of finesse. This chardonnay would have been a difficult child to love when young I suspect. But now that it is almost mature, it is a beautifully balanced wine and one that has power and raciness to the end.
Flinty, apple and hint of pear aromas, body was so clean with a racy urgency that just wants you to consume more. Coupled with subtle nectarine, floral notes and white peaches made it even more voluptuous. Quite a creamy texture and a fine, long finish. Extraordinary.
Drink now to 4+ years.

Moderately concentrated aroma of flint, dairy, some yeasty note, fresh lemom juice, toasty sweet oak, buttery, developing a bit of caramel. Light to medium body, very round even a bit oily with lemonade, grilled nuts, mineral, sweet oak spices. Good mid palate concentration but fair length. Good now.

Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant. 78 Penfold Road Rosslyn Park, South Australia, 5072, Australia.
Poured a tasting glass. Transparent clear gold. Medium plus fruit, white stone fruit, mild oak mid palate and finish, well integrated, lemon, lime finish.

Tasted at the Penfolds dinner at the Grand Hyatt Steakhouse in Hong Kong with Peter Gago - I really like what they're doing with Yattarna now, it has so much more minerality. It has evolved from a stupidly oaky New World Chardonnay to more of a cool climate wine perhaps akin to Leeuwin Estate Art Series. They now get over 90% of the fruit from Tasmania
