Very good but a slightly more advanced bottle. That or the wine is starting to fade somewhat. Still very good and lots in the way of black olive. Less in the way of smoked meats / scorched earth. Last week, notes from memory. ~94.

From Paris with Love, 2023 Edition; 11/24/2023-11/25/2023 (Paris): Exceptional is the word that characterises it. Contrasted especially to the effortless elegance and near perfect experience that was the 1989 La Mouline ( Papies 98) that we had it side by side this was just a whole different story. Still a powerful wine and does not want to let go. It took us for a journey from the opening time when it was screaming for attention with an exuberant nose heat seeking our nostrils to the end of the experience a good two hours later when it relaxed and became ever the savoury, smoky, roast meat classic and epic nose that only La Las of the1980s possess. Impressive wine and indeed that opening nose to us was a bit of Barbara Pravi singing “voila que je suis!” . Magical wine and ever so special. 99 or 100 an irrelevant number to pin point for a wine that ignites such an experience.

Drank for my 60th at Post Ranch Inn!! A wine that has captivated me the past, literally left me speechless and one of the only wines I ever gave 100 points. But that was many years ago from my cellar in Chiang Mai Thailand and a story for another time!
This bottle unfortunately never really came around. So sad. Aroma of a French hillside of Mountain Savory, Thyme, Rosemary, Lavender, Fennel. Gorgeous. Had high hopes!
But even after 4-5 hours in the decanter it barely started to open up. My gut tells me that this just needed even more time. But on the heels of the 95 Soldera I had no patience and quaffed it down in the most amazing setting any restaurant in the US can offer. Strange as the 96 Salon drank just before also had the same stubbornness. Two of my top wines and both refusing to open. Maybe it was the setting?
One bottle left of the 88, lets hope and pray it will be a masterpiece. One of the few times La Turque has disappointed. OK we still managed to finish the bottle )) NR

1 hour decant & filter. Not excessive sediment filtered. At 33yrs, still robust, full bodied and plenty of primary fruit. Gamey nose and taste profile, strong expression of a LaLa Cote Rotie. Should last for another 10-20 years.

A beautiful vintage of La Turque, which had always been a favorite. Sexy as hell.
