Another 05 that needs a lot more time. Don’t get me wrong, it was definitely enjoyable, but you just know its best days will be in the distant future.
Initially had some reductive notes that took a little over an hour in the decanter to blow off. It’s a dark Pinot, but bright strawberry notes were really abundant. Deeply structured with that Gevrey spice I crave, everything is in place for this classic. Great wine of analysis. I’m typically not a fan of these darker, more brooding Pinots, but this’ll be incredible when it all comes together.

First taste after 6.5 hours in the decanter, just starting to give up a little. Lovely nose. Dark brooding color. Still tons of tannins at first, continues to open throughout the night. Nice bright cherry and strawberry, balanced spice on the finish. Approach carefully as this still needs time (or a day of air) to show its best.

Tons of structure and plenty of black and red cherry fruit but seems still needs time to resolve itself.

ESTG does Red Burgundy (Bellevue, WA, USA): A chemical element at first, mmm, so much structure and grip. Impressive more than purely pleasurable.

excellent Village holding its ground at age 17. Well rounded with a trifle rusticity
