Lovely mature or close to fully wine. Plums, cassis, spices - feel the 2003 heat made an extra powerful version that is properly burnings its candle in both ends. But it’s lovey now and probably won’t get any better with further ageing

Perfumed Chasse Spleen with silky texture, structured body and grippy fine tannins. Made from a CS based blend with 20% Merlot and 7% PV, aged for 14 months in oak, 40% new. Intense aroma of earthy dusted cassis and dried cherries, plums, chocolate, earth, spices, cigar box, dried violet petals. Medium+ body, rustic, lively and pleasantly nervous structure, flavours are dusty and still fresh and fruity just not as pronounced as aroma. Concludes with vibrant medium+ acidity and high fine grippy tannins.

On opening, really classic on the nose. Plenty of cassis and currant. I wouldn't have guessed the vintage was 2003. Decanted and continued to open up over the next hour.
The nose begins to jump out of the glass. More exuberant red fruits along with clove, cinnamon, blood orange, sandalwood, smoke, and iodine. The palate has become more open-knit and juicy with a fair amount of tannin left to resolve but does not necessarily detract from the enjoyment of the wine. Quite lovely. Drink now and into the next decade.

Wow, you would not think this wine is almost 20 years old. Such good levels of fruit still, tannins well balanced and a great length. Drink now or easily keep

Tanners: This is a big, robust wine that has plenty of round, supple fruit that is ripe with good tannins.
