Tasted blind, I thought this might be an old chateauneuf du pape with its musky cherry and black pepper notes showing a certain charm. Fully resolved; time to drink these.

World's Greatest, Hong Kong - Night II (Garden Suite, Peninsula Hotel): Awesome nose, classic notes of roses, florals, acrylics, dusty earth. Some are calling this a little too bold and brawny, but I still see the expressive and elegant aspects. Palate is lush and flavorful, but also very big. Vastly superior to the '78 La Chapelle last night, but similarly dense, intense, and dark. 93-94.

Gary's MNSC (Seventh Son): decanted for 2hrs. lovely blend of spice, earth and tobacco. surprisingly pure and less dense than I can remember. in a wonderful window now.

Clean, clear and focused for its age. A range of refined fruit with melded sweet spice and savory notes. Smooth on the palate. A good bottle. Consumed with roast chicken and black truffle. 96+

Notes of cola, light mildew and spice on the nose. Undelineated fruit and a somewhat simple finish. Not close to the standards of the bottle of six months ago, but still an enjoyable wine. Whether bottle conditions or simply various stages of developments this wine has shown variabililty; it is always good and sometimes very very good. Here paired with whole roasted suckling pig.
