Wow. Served blind. Thought 1990s burgundy ! Ruby with just a hint of age and bricking. Still lots of red fruits and perfume on the palate. Quite a lean after taste. From BV

i tasted this wine around 1998 while in grad school with a friend's dad who was a wine collector. we had a terrific meal, and many delicious wines, but this was the best... and by memory one of the best wines i've ever had. of course, i don't remember the details and my palate was less mature then, but i do remember this wine to this day. i saved the label all these years, and keep it in my cellar. i didn't know until recently that it was essentially a DRC. just a fun memory to share.

(Marey-Monge Romanee St. Vivant) Just an explosion of earth and spice on the nose along with hints of mulberry and chinese tea. Very exotic and animal at the same time if that makes sense. The nose kept changing and eventually developed into a truffle sort of thing but also with the aformentioned spice and berry fruit. On the palate lots of sweet berry fruit framed in spice and even slight notes of game. Long finish that just ends on its own terms. Amazing complexity and finesse. Easily the best aged red burgundy I have ever had. What a treat!!
(Marey-Monge (Domaine de la Romanée-Conti) Romanée St. Vivant) Bricked and slightly browning light medium red color with pale meniscus; deep strawberry nose; rich, concentrated, beautiful, strawberry, sous bois palate with resolved tannins; long finish

Forest floor galore on the nose. Some leather. Big, extracted with some menthol. Still some dusty tannins, but good balance. Very long finish. 93 pts.

A good bottle, with a good nose and a better palate. Definitely time to drink these up IMO.

Amazing line-up, one-word impressions only: Nice nose but unfortunately this bottle was well over its best time
