  • Seems to be still underdeveloped. Dark color. Red fruit nose. More a statue of a c9dP than a c9dP itself… Nice garrigue aromas, spices, fruitiness but not as voluptuous as I experienced Clos des Papes from other years. Very young. All in all a bit restrained. I think this wine needs some more time for development.

  • This is a strange wine in the sense it combines high alcohol with a burgundy elegance, even after almost 15 years in bottle. The color is remarkably deep for a Grenache-based wine, and there are few signs of browning at the rim. Intriguing nose dominated by plums and blueberries, but also with a fresh raspberry and red cherry feel. Underneath there is a plethora of spicy tone like licquorice, black pepper, warm earth and dry wood. Full bodied, smooth, almost sweet on the first attack. The mid palate expands even more towards plums, blueberries and cherries, underlined by a stron tone of licquorice and black pepper. High acidity balances the alcolhol - almost. The finish is somewhat warm, but still well within acceptabel levels. The aftertaste is fruity and spicy, and sits for extremely long. Some hot tones at the very end, but this is nicely balanced by the acidity. Tannins are present, but ultra-smooth. This wine has just started it´s journey towards a long life. Still very primary on the fruit. Will probably not improve, but will acquire that old feel (dried fruit, tobacco) after another decade. A great wine, although I would have liked the alcohol to be a bit lower (something that will not happen with the current climate change).

  • 1 dl tekinn með Coravin.
Í nefi: Sveskjur, skógarber og leysiefni. Mjög dökkur ilmur.
Svo á tungu: Dökk kirsuber, súkkulaði. Frábært jafnvægi. Kaffitónar í eftirbragði. Algerlega tilbúið núna.

  • From memory... Much different than the Marcoux from a couple weeks ago. More red fruit, iodine and linear. Notes of rosemary, sage and other spices. Very nicely balanced, Excellent now but I think this will still improve.
