The 2019 Cos d'Estournel emerges after only a few minutes in the glass, Falstaffian - jolly and round, brimming with grape preserves, plum, pomegranate, freshened by a graphite mineral edge. As round as this is in the mouth, its acidity maintains an enticing drinkability. I don't think this will take particularly long to drink with pleasure, but its symmetry and stuffing should also allow for a long life.
Beautiful fruit black fruits, very aromatic, yet somehow not overdone and very approachable today. Tannins are polished and fully coat the mouth, quite grippy at this stage, expect it will get even better with some time in the bottle.

NOSE: expressive; red licorice; florals.
BODY: garnet-violet color of medium-deep to deep depth. {forgot to note weight}
TASTE: smoky; oaky; on the bigger side; gently spicy; fine tannins; 13.5% alc. I could see this appealing to Napa Cab. lovers. Needs some time. Hold.

Due to Matt Scott's enticing review I decided to pull a 375 from the cellar. Not as lengthy of a decant but a strong showing none the less.
No harm in pulling one today but patience will reward the subtle complexities that will develop with time in the bottle.
95 today with plenty of upside.
