Ruby-garnet color. I let this bottle breathe several hours and a constellation of different aromas developed compared to a prior pop-n-pour bottle. Black cherry, ripe pomegranate, cured bacon, and tanned leather are apparent. Flavors of black tea, raspberry, and pepper on the palate make for a wine that pairs nicely with savory meats, cheeses, olives, and hearty breads. Offering by a moderately long finish, it’s surprisingly tasty at the moment yet has years remaining. We consumed it with paella constructed with Iberico chorizo and shrimp head bouillon- a fabulous combo.

Perhaps slightly less opulent than last January's bottle but showing more tangy backbone. It was an excellent pairing for a stew of wild boar in a mushroom, red currant and kriek beer sauce. Very good.

Dark & Shut down, rather simple and uninspiring, no apparent flaws but just a meh bottle. Did not improve on day 2 only got worse. A true disappointment considering how great the 98 Chaupin was tonight as well as all the other bottles so my score is probably a bit harsh. Got a bit more open after 3 days but still rather simple for a VV

Way past its prime. Needs an hour of decant.

Opened up after 15 mins in glass. Well balanced with a lot of life left in it. Awesome wine
