  • Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas like the 1980 it's quite lightweight on the nose showing red over blackberries, tiny raisined note in support, a little leather, earth, Autumnal notes, smells slight sour. And it proves a little sur on the palate which lends freshness more red over blackcurrant with a touch of fruit tea in support, again talc textured tannic grip. Long, Yum.

  • Purchased from Cult Wines Intl. Poor storage prior to them purchasing it, I’m sure. Upon removal of capsule, the cork had sunk halfway down the neck of the bottle. Trying to remove it dropped it the rest of the way. The wine was brick and smelled of raisin. Did not taste because the cork was disgusting.

  • Medium garnet colour. Red fruit, red cherry, mushroom/sous bois notes, coffee, cedar, leather, tobacco, graphite, spices and balsamic notes, with pronounced acidity, fully resolved tannin and good length. The medium-bodied wine has a good mid-palate, but overall it does not quite have the energy, depth or length of better vintages. That said, it has aged well, is fairly balanced and very alive, and drank well. Even more harmonious on day two. A great success in the context of the vintage, and once more proof that Château Prieuré-Lichine outperforms in lesser vintages. Fully mature, drink now.

  • Coravin fun - Prieure Lichine (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Biscuit, slight toast, raspberries and strawberries, baking spices, graphite, pencil shavings, cream and leather. Sourly juicy on the palate, a little bitter coffee note, raspberry fruit, still plenty of grip on the mid palate and the baking spices make themselves known on the long finish. Yum.

  • Coravin fun - (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of cream, sweet spice, slight leather, wet earth, damsons and plums over muted blackcurrant, a little mushroom, herbaceous. In the mouth it's got medium plus intensity acid, fleshy and, surprisingly, freshly fruited. Chalky tannins. Harmonious. Long. In very good nick considerings it's age. Yum.
