I was really pleased with this wine. No Brett or baked notes, youthful with blueberry and herb notes. Light on its feet and not at all showing the heat of the vintage. Pricey but an excellent wine nonetheless.
PNP late in the dinner and loved at first with the traditional earthiness and then it went spoofy on me...with bubble gum, blueberries and other flavors I associate with super high octane new world wines...left me disappointed. One large glass left for the next day and back to earth and a solid, more traditional red that I really liked....lesson learned, I think
SG gets bubble gum. MLR gets blueberries. Pg has a bit of smokiness. TO gets marinated cherries. Lots of length left in this wine. smooth silk feel in the mouth. Tannins are refined and in the background nicely.
Popped and poured. Dark ruby. Nose of cassis, red plum, graphite, currant. Densely powerful layers of blueberry, black currant, sweet plum, and grippy notes on a fruit-forward platform anchored by firm, almost crunchy structure. Freshening acidity and softening tannins. Moderately long finish with ringing, minerally fruit. First Tempier: nice!
